Why distilled water? if this is a travel steamer you would have to carry extra water with you, which is not convenient

I have only used mine a few times and it has serious mineral build up already in the tank from not using distilled water. Cannot get tank to fully empty and cannot shake out the debris. Not sure how Conair can market this as "green" when it requires distilled water to use and is completely made of non-recyclable plastic..

Can I steam clothing that is laying flat?

No. You have to have clothing/fabrics hanging on a hanger or something similar/clothes pin/rod. If you tip the steamer the water will just run out and it could burn you. The steamer needs to remain upright for usage.

Do you need to keep your finger pressed on a button the entire time you are steaming or can you put it in a lock position?

After you fill it with water and turn it on that is all you do. It warms up and out comes the steam until the water runs out. Then shut it off and add more water and turn it back on and keep steaming.

if I am steaming something on the ground, and have to tilt it, would it drip?

Yes, I’ve never tried it but based on how it’s made, it would drip. It is not an iron. I’ve tilted it slightly and that is fine but I hang my shirts, skirts, pants on a hanger and steam. I’ve steamed curtains while hanging. If it’s a large item I would drape over a shower rod or something and steam it.
