Has anyone mounted on a rv wall?

Yes I have. To make sure there were no wall stress problems, I mounted a piece of wood to the wall and then the fan bracket for extra strength. I do slide it on and off the bracket while RV in motion.

Is it quiet enough for bedroom use?

We found this fan a bit too powerful for the bedroom even on low speed

What is the diameter of the fan cage?

It’s 17 1/2 inches lt to rt and top to bottom

Can this mounted directly to a square electrical box, with no wall around it?

It has a metal bracket that gets screwed to the wall with two screws, you then hook the fan onto that. If you don't have a wall and only an electrical box I don't think that would work unless you can at least screw a piece of wood to the box first to then attach the mounting bracket. Also, the fan is garbage, just check the many many reviews that all say it died after about 6-12 months, including mine. Buy a different brand
