More gentle than bleach, my go-to product
I change my hair color A LOT and itโs usually really dramatic color changes so I use this a lot and highly recommend it! It is less damaging than bleach when you need to get color out! It still will stain your clothes and will bleach out the color so make sure you wear protective gown and gloves at the very least. Itโs my go-to product when I need to change my hair color and donโt want to damage my hair!

Does MORE Than Remove Old Permanent Hair Color
I used this under the impression it only took out old hair dye. Not to put it on the virgin roots, only where old hair dye was. That is what I did. It did take out the old hair dye, but ALSO my regular hair color. So now I have a brassy colored, waist length hair and about 3" of roots of my normal hair color. So now I realize I have to do my roots. I had a different product, used that and now I have 3" of super light brassy yellow hair into the other brassy shade. I got the color reducer, to make it lighter than hot pink, that did not work either. I knew I would have several shades, at 73, I guess I really do not care other than it would be nice to have the product do only what it says it will do. It is a good think anything goes now. The two pics show the 2 different colors. The 2nd one not as well because the top and bangs are what are different. Just beware, colorzap does bleach/lighten your regular hair shade. I should have taken pics of it before I put the pink on. I would only use if you do want to lighten even your regular hair color and do it all at once, virgin roots and all. Use at your own risk. Maybe you will have a different experience. I have colored my hair for years. I will never do this again, mainly because of the bleaching experience and the absolute hot pink mess with the color, so hard to contain.

2 boxes!
I had dyed black hair that I was trying to get back to dark brown. I'd been dying my hair black for about two years, so it had a lot to combat. The first time I used Color Zap I only used one box, and it was not enough to cover my medium/long hair. I left it on for about an hour, but it dried up and didn't do much to change the color. I walked around for a month with red roots and black hair. Gorgeous. So I figured out that it needs to stay wet (things I wish the box had told me - that you'll need a shower cap or a plastic shopping bag to wrap your head in so it doesn't dry out, and you'll need to buy your own plastic gloves. There are none in the box. Probably one of those applicator brushes would have been nice too.) The second time I tried was a month after the first attempt, and I used two boxes. It removed the color, but not as well as I would have liked. I had some black patches - so be sure to cover your head well, and put it under a cap after, so it stays wet. The product heats up while it's working... I was pretty alarmed by it, but I guess that's normal? It turned my hair orange red with yellow roots after about 25 minutes. Very scary. My hair was VERY dry. You have to wash out the Color Zap, and then dry again before you can dye it. I would advise letting it air dry. I blow dried, and I think that was a mistake. My hair felt like straw, and combing it out was a nightmare. It felt like every strand would snap off. They didn't, but I was very gentle. I dyed it dark brown immediately after, and it was still pretty red. I liked it, but YMMV. I was pretty excited to not have black hair anymore, so I think I would have liked anything. When I colored again a month after it was much darker (I used the same color both times.) I still have some reddish tones in my hair. I'm going to try putting in some highlights soon so the lighter/darker patches aren't so obvious. My hair was pretty fried after all this. I cut off about 4 inches at the ends, because they looked awful. I've always had really silky hair, so it was kind of distressing to have hair that felt like straw. I've been using John Frieda's repair shampoo and conditioner ever since to try to get my hair back to normal, and I think it's better now. I know this reads like a hair nightmare, but it wasn't terrible. If I needed to get color out of my hair again I would use Color Zap again, only I'd do better next time. If you're like me, and reading every review you can find before you do this to your hair, I found it really helpful to watch YouTube videos of people using Color Zap and the like. I had no idea what I was doing, as I'd never tried to lighten my hair before, and it was helpful to get more info and watch tutorials so I had a clue as to what I was in for.

Good stuff
Really works. Removes/lifts artificial color to reveal the base that the hair colorโs developer lifted your natural color to. Which is a peach soet of shad. I used XMondo color gloss in 8N and got a pretty strawberry blonde.

Eh
My big take away is that this is ultimately a weak bleach product that doesnโt really work. So it smells and behaves just like bleach, but doesnโt work as well. If you want hair color removed from your hair, just use bleach instead, not this. So I had two sections of my hair dyed- one side red and one green. Both were with Manic Panic semi-permanent dye. This product only advertises for natural hair color removal, not color, so I wasnโt really sure what to expect. It gives two bottles (a powder and an activator) and provides different instructions depending in if your have dark or light color to remove. Since mine were unnatural colors, I went for the more powerful removing process. I followed all directions. As you can see, it worked somewhat for the green side. Itโs still a little green but Iโm pretty ok with it as this is what I was expecting. On the red side, however, it somehow got more vibrant. Itโs actually sort of funny to be honest. How could a product that removes color end up making the color more prominent?? Oh well. Cons: -doesnโt really work -doesnโt work consistently -is bleach based so itโs not like youโre getting a healthier alternative to bleach Pros: -cheap -easy to use -sort of works (but seems to depend)

Surprisingly pleased!
Worked impressively well! I've been dyeing my hair very dark for a LONG time and was really getting tired of it. I've been longing to dye it purple and I knew I'd have to ditch the almost-black shade in order for the purple to be visible and vibrant. I was a bit nervous to use a color remover on my hair, as I try to be gentle on my hair. I don't blowdry it, I almost never use heat styling tools, and I want it to stay healthy. I had my husband's help in applying it thoroughly to my chin-length hair and the contents of one package were just enough to cover it sufficiently. Therefore, if your hair is considerably longer than mine, I would strongly suggest getting more than one. We didn't dilute it with water because of how dark my hair was (make sure you THOROUGHLY read the directions on the inside of the box) and I left it on under a shower cap for 60 minutes. When I took the cap off, I was STUNNED! Nearly all the dark dye was gone, even on the tips, and it came out to a light coppery apricot color which will take the purple dye currently on my hair nicely. My hair WAS a bit dry after using this product, but nothing some intense conditioning won't take care of.

It works !
This stuff really works, my hair was dyed jet black and within 15minutes all that black was gone. However this stuff literally kills the ends your hair so i highly recommend you treat it well afterwards
