Large Tailors Clapper

Is about 1/2 inch smaller overall, than described. Would only buy the large size in this item. Great for flattening quilt seams. Smooth, handcrafted oak hardwood. Easy to pick up and use. Recommend having 3 of these on-hand for working on one quilt block and one block in progress. Useful for other projects as well since, it is slim enough to fit in smaller spaces such as sleeves.

I have seen that quilters are using this item for flattening their seams. I decided to order one and was looking for something that was hand made - not from China. This one is very nice and smooth and I was very pleased witht the appearance and how well it worked.

I was very pleased when I received the large size wooden clapper for pressing seams - it was not too big to use comfortably for small hands. Approx. size: 11 3/8" long x 2 5/8" wide at bottom, tapering to 1 5/8" wide at tip x 1 3/8" tall. It arrived sanded smooth with no burrs and after a quick dusting off, I was able to use it to get the flattest seams ever. Wish I would have bought one years ago - it really does make that big a difference in the quality of your sewing.

I was curious about these and, as a small treat, decided to try it out. This is what I have found after just a short use: it works better on a standard ironing board and with steam rather than in my will ironing mat. I DO think that the seams seem flatter and I’m happy I got it. Give it a try.

My wife is a seamstress and uses a clapper all the time. This clapper is machined very well. The problem is the choice of wood. It is made of very nice oak……but, oak has a very open grain. This causes splinters on the edges, which will damage fine fabrics. A simple solution would be to use a denser wood like maple. I have tried sanding it many times, but it still splinters. This makes the clapper not useable, especially on fine fabrics.

Easy to hold. Works beautifully. I wish there was a longer one that would cover the seam on a 12” quilt block.

I use this for setting sewn seams. Saw it used on a You Tube video and immediately purchased. When it arrived, I was amazed at everything about it! The weight, craftsmanship, and the usefulness. I purchased this clapper after hearing so many positive things about clappers in the quilting world. I purchased this particular one because I didn’t want to wait and visit a quilt shop. I can’t say enough about the quality of this item. Plus, yes it’s worth the hype!!! My seams have never been so flat!!!!

I use this when I’m piecing blocks for quilting . Flattens seams after ironing. Works really well. I might need to get a few more

Je ne savais pas à quoi ça servait précisément. Je l’ai essayé et c’est extraordinaire pour ouvrir ou rabattre les coutures par exemple . Un coup de fer avec valeur et vous appuyez le clap directement sur la zone . Vous obtiendrez une couture parfaitement rabattue ou ouverte ! Je ne regrette absolument pas mon achat .

Love this product - it's exactly as advertised and works really well. The quality is lovely too, beautifully finished and very nice to hold/use.
