Best canister vacuum ever!
Oreck vacuum canister is the perfect accessory to their upright vacuum! I just retired my Oreck canister vac from 25+ years of service for a new one. The old one has been passed on to granddaughter as it still works good. The upright and this canister vac are the perfect cleaning duo! First I go thru the house with the canister to get furniture, corners, hard to reach places, anywhere the upright can't go then follow up with the big vac! The extra tools store right on the canister. It has a super long cord, powerful suction and a shoulder strap...very easy to use! Great for small messes too instead of dragging out the big one. Still uses the same bags as the old one. Bags are easy to find and reasonably priced. Oreck products are the best value for your hard earned $$!! Made in the USA and still the best!

Powerful suction, built to last, and a HEPA filter.
This is such a great vacuum! It has a replaceable HEPA filter module that fits over the exhaust port, which means you can pick up very fine particulate like flour without it just spewing out behind you. It has VERY strong suction and can pick up any kind of mess easily. The attachments are pretty good, I use the brush attachment a lot as the bristles loosen up dirt. The usual crevice tool, extender, and other parts all work like they should. The vacuum bags are cheap too, so it's no big deal to replace them as needed. They improved the design from the older model, the hose has a locking ring so it won't just pop out, and there's a cord storage area at the bottom. My only gripe is that the attachments don't lock to the other end and just have a friction fit. It's not really a problem for daily use but it is a minor inconvenience.Oreck vacuums aren't cheap but you pay for quality and reliability. It's built like a tank and there's nothing flimsy about it. If you have to pick up a lot of fine material (plastic shavings, fiberglass particles, milled grains/flours, etc.) this is definitely the right vacuum.

A no BS review of the Oreck vacuum from a 15 year Oreck user
As an Orek vacuum user for the past 15+ years I thought I should give a review, as there can be a lot of fake/AI generated BS in these reviews. This vacuum is portable, light, and meant only for hardwood floors, furniture, or cobwebs for the ceiling. It is not meant for carpets. Personally, I haven't found a portable vacuum for hardwood floors that wasn't as cumbersome as the Orek, so I've stuck with them.My previous Orek lasted 15+ years and was still functioning. Previously, the main attachment arm cracked at the opening, rendering it useless, so I found a replacement arm and used that for several more years with the existing Orek. Ultimately, my previous Orek's tubing cracked open. I guess I could have just replaced the tubing but I decided to get a whole new vacuum, and this new one is pretty much identical to my old one.The main advantage is its portability and the ability for it to be carried with their strap which works well. It can also be used as a car vacuum which is a nice bonus. It comes with attachments that are functional and work well. The main downside is the the main vacuum tube/arm (that can extend) does not stay fastened on the attachment tube that goes into the vacuum bag. It's pretty frustrating and can be solved with some basic duct tape, though that's the best solution I could find. It can continually fall off if not aware of it.The cost of this vacuum is another advantage, as I didn't want to pay a lot of money for a canister vacuum that is not as compact and portable as the Orek.I give it 4 stars, as I like the Orek, for the cost and portability and cleaning functioning, but also for the problem with that main vacuum arm not being able to be fastened tightly to the vacuum hose.Again, this is a no BS/AI review, and I am an owner of an Orek for several years.

Benefits of the Oreck compact canister
This compact Oreck vacuum is really good. It is light, powerful and easy to carry around. I like the mobility, it allows to me to easily clean in places where using a regular vacuum, with its attachments, is hard to do. The hoses on regular vacuums are short so it is hard to reach all areas and you have to lug the vacuum around. The Oreck makes all cleaning much easier.

I am an Oreck fan and always will be...
I was hesitant to buy this Oreck due to some of the reviews and I have been debating whether to buy it or not for a while. I finally decided to go for it and to replace the one I used to have which is the older model of this one (aka the original). I have had my Oreck XL for years and before that I had another Oreck and just bought the XL to replace the older model. I have only owned 2 Oreck upright vacuums and now 2 Oreck handheld/compact. Oh and we owned years ago the carpet cleaner and 1 canister. And the reason we have replaced them in the past was to update the older versions but the vacuums always performed brilliantly. I used to drive about an hout to our closest Oreck store for regular maintenance every year but since that store closed we just learned how to maintain it ourselves and voila! it is good as new again. Anyway, back to the handheld I just received. It arrived intact and everything accounted for. I put it together quickly since the bag & filter were already setup before it arrived. It is quite easy to,basically, plug and play and start vacuuming. The vacuum sounds (as far as suction) as you'd expect any Oreck vacuum to sound - strong. The older version I used to own did not have the added tool holder that sits in the back. Also, the older version did not have an adjustable strap and rubber shoulder cushion. I really like these new improvements. It still includes many tools for many different tasks. However, another new and improved feature ,that the original did not have, is the adjustable telescopic extension wand. The original was just one long solid piece but this one isn't as solid (meaning it's lighter) but I realized it's because it has a large button you press to adjust to the desired lenght. I really like this new wand. It's definitely new and very useful. The original handheld vacuum was more square-ish and this one was updated to be semi square but sleeker. I haven't tried the blower part of it yet but I will at some point. Perhaps to blow out the fans, the back patio, etc. I can use it for indoors and also to vacuum my car outside since the cord is pretty long as long as I plug it in the garage. I am definitely an Oreck fan because even though they can be a bit loud (although I can see it has improved some based on this new one) I love love how they perform each task and how they're built to last. I am glad I purchased it.

Great vacuum, but poor quality tool attachments
I dropped the review to 3 stars because i'm very disappointed in the reduced quality of the attachments that shipped with this vacuum. I have owned four of these over several years. This is the fourth one, and there is a significant drop in the quality of the brushes and the attachment plastic. They feel cheap and flimsy. The tools have a tendency to fall off. The worst change is on one of the most essential items... the hose connection where your hand holds the vacuum extension. It used to be curved and slightly textured so it was ergonomic and very comfortable to manipulate the tools. Now, that plastic segment that attaches to the extension is straight and smooth, so it slips in your hand and is no longer ergonomic. It actually hurts my wrist to vacuum the house. I am trying to locate a replacement hose with the older curved angle to replace the version that came with this particular vacuum. The vacuum itself is still the same quality unit, still wonderfully light yet powerful. Ideal for dog hair on hard floors. But i'm very disappointed that they went with such cheap attachments. Boo hiss. I expect more from Orek because they earned a reputation of quality in the past.

Oreck makes a good product
My last Oreck canister vacuum lasted 25 years. You can tell Oreck makes a good product - all the old attachments and even the bag and filter work on the new vacuum. They might cost a bit more, but an Oreck is worth it, they don't mess with a good design.
