Lamson 6" Alaskan Ulu Knife - Regular Size

This knife is a great addition to my kitchen items. I already have one that has two handles and this one is even better as it is a one handed tool to use!!

I have thought about buying this for a loooong time and now I wish I had done it the first time I looked at it. It will not replace your chef's knife, but it can definitely take over some of the work it does. This is a real knife. It is very sharp and yes, you can and should sharpen it. It is great for mincing small piles of herbs. It was also handy for skinning and removing the outer fat or silver from meat or fish; and it is absolutely the best pizza cutter (I threw out my traditional pizza wheel.). It is an Ulu knife designed and used by the Inuit people for several thousand years. The design makes it easy to hold and ergonomic; which is great for tired hands or people who have trouble holding a regular knife for whatever reason.The materials and craftsmanship are top notch; and This is an American company who makes these in the USA!I have since purchased a couple of their other product and am very impressed with the quality.

I should have gotten one of these a long time ago, but glad to have it now. Perfect for cutting frozen meat and just general dicing. The blade is very sharp, so caution is a must.

Good quality Food preparation

I have many knives, but this is my favorite for small, fast chopping, It's really good for herbs and garlic. Very comfortable. I didn't give it 5 stars because the handle is fairly rough, although we've oiled it a few times. Also the end point are more pointy that they need to be; they could have been filed down just a bit.However, for the first few weeks, it was so much fun that I used it almost exclusively.

This is a high quality, sharp, easy and fun to use knife. I saw something similar being used in a video and liked the idea so I shopped around and decided on the Lamson. It's a great value and made in USA to boot.

A classic ulu made from good stainless steel that holds an edge. After testing one I bought another one. I would grind them more precisely, but this is a first class ulu knife.

I thought this would make a great gift, but subpar quality control is the issue. It arrived quickly. I was excited to see the gift I'd bought. I opened the package and found the Ulu had a thin guard covering the blade for shipping purposes only I'd presume. The handle was roughly finished. No problem, I had a week plus before Xmas. I sanded it too a higher grit and it smoothed out nicely. Yesterday, on Xmas my wife opens her gift and removed the blade "guard" and the blade has dark markings from the grinder, the bevels are uneven and one of the tips is missing. Three stars might be a bit too generous.
