Once fitted can you remove them without access from above ?

Yes, the wiring might need to be done from above (it can often been done from below) but they need to be fitted from below. It is easy to take them out from below. I swapped older halogen fittings for these. You need to make sure that the lights are of the right diameter. It is useful to put a dimmer into the circuit as well.

No they don't as they are double insulated. However they don't have a through earth terminal for continuity purposes, so if your wiring has an earth cable, you'll need a connector block to continue the earth though

I'm replacing old school downlighters. Will these LED units require a different tranformer or a driver?

They connect directly to the mains supply 230v ac there is a switch on the side to select which type of colour you want cool daylight or warm make sure you choose which one you want and set them all the same before fitting.
