Good over all color
Love the color. My hair was a lighter blonde so you can see the blue more at tips where the blonde was light. Still i love the turnout

Consider the original hair color
On bleached hair, the dye appears distinctly blue, kinda indigo. The color application is even and smooth. It’s not very long-lasting, but it doesn’t damage the hair as much. Update: last 2 pictures after 6 washes. Rinse out from bleached hair fast. Color became gray with some blue

Probably my favorite "black" dye
So my hair is naturally darkest brown so I went into this knowing that I wouldn't achieve the blue tone that's on the box. I still wanted to see what the end result would be and I'm glad I did because the color is beautiful and probably my favorite out of years of dyeing my hair shades of black. As you can see from the pic, my hair does have blue tones, just much more subtle than the model's and I actually prefer my results. In different lighting it isn't as blue and is a soft almost ashy black with high shine. The dye and conditioner left my hair baby soft, something I haven't achieved in a while with other dyes. The dye does have strong chemical fumes and I had to leave my bathroom for fresh air multiple times while dyeing. I'm sensitive to smell so that was part of it. But I would definitely use this brand and color again and again and I hope it will be always available.

Thumbs up for Downtown Denim, on dark hair.
-It works. -Use 2 boxes. Make sure your hair is saturated. -My regularly colored, very dark hair, came out very close to the picture on the box. -It's black with a dark blue undertone and silver highlights. -Scent is pleasant. -Easy to use. I have colored my hair at home myself, for years. I find a color I like and I stick with that for a few years, before I get bored and decide to try something different. But I always stick with a "natural" color, usually a soft black or dark brown. I decided to try something different this time and bought "Downtown Denim". WAY different than anything I've ever tried before. And a little out of my comfort zone. My hair was a soft black, and now it's "Downtown Denim", I guess! And I like it! I used 2 boxes, even tho my hair is just passed my shoulders, and pretty thin. But based on the reviews for this color, I decided to SATURATE. I also left it on about 10 extra minutes... my hair has been colored a lot. It worked! My hair looks pretty much just like the box! Which surprises me because my hair was so dark to start with. But it did! If the longevity is whack.... I'll be back.

Results equivalent to other box dyes, but leaves hair dryer than the rest
I have very fine naturally blonde long hair that I dye blue-black. I've used everything from Paul Mitchell The Color 1A, Garnier fructis Blue Black, Gold color True black, etc. I've tried permanents and semi-permanents. My hair does not accept dye (no matter application, duration left on, avoiding shampooing, no heat treatments etc). My hair tends to be dry but I've since found Hair Story semi-custom one step shampoo/conditioner which has improved my hair's moisture level drastically (to the point that it's oily now but I'm OK with that). This was easy to use, the gloves were enormous, and it worked well with the professional applicator brush I use instead of just using my fingers. It's a little stingier than other brands I've used, stains skin/scalp slightly less than some of the others. Compared to Garnier, my hair felt a lot more "stripped"/drier before the conditioner step with this stuff. I've used this in the past and it fades very quickly into a really weird tint of brown, but since my golden hair likes to shine through no matter what I'm going to accept it for now, it was a good price. Long term I'll stick with the Paul Mitchell and the Garnier- these give the nicest blue sheen though it doesn't survive a first shampooing. EDIT: The pictures uploaded in a scrambled order- the pictures below are now: a) my hair pre-dye without flash, b) hair/roots post dye, post-dry with no flash but actual color in real life is NOT black), c) roots pre-dye, d)roots post-dye with flash, actual color (clearly not "black"), e, hair pre-dye with flash, hair post-dye no flash. I'd love to say the second to last pic is what it looks like but its not, it's not even really black unfortunatley, the final photo is what it looks like in most natural and artificial lights.
