most barley has 3 years of storage time when fresh, what i was sent has less than 6 months left, not cool

The "best by" date was only three months away
I recieved the product that had a "best by" date three months from delivery date. That is a very short time frame to use two bags of barley. I did however cook a batch. One batch I cracked and made a porridge and it was very good. I soaked another batch for 8 hours and then cooked it whole and it took an hour and 10 minutes to cook. The biggest issue is buying a product so close to the expiration date. I do realize that whole grains can keep well if properly packaged, so this one may have to go to the freezer.

Wonderfully flavorful grain I used in beef barley soup. Takes longer to cook and does not thicken the soup. The berries remain whole, plump and pop either a little crunch.
