I have this antenna installed in my attic (see photo). It allows me to receive, in perfect clarity, all the stations from the two major markets nearby (Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA). I suggest you watch them a few times to know what you will be doing. I found assembly to be very simple, with easy to follow instructions, especially after watching the video. Make sure the antenna will fit where you intend to place it, and assemble it nearby where you plan to install it. It can be a bit awkward to move around one you put it together. The powered amp / filter works great. Because my antennna is in the attic and my TVs are downstairs on the first floor and in the basement I have a longer cable run, and a split (100ft, then split to 25 feet and 50 feet). Due to the amplifier I have no issues with a strong signal reaching either TV. One TV has an ATSC 3.0 tuner and those stations are also crystal clear. The powered amp / filer has two OUT terminals, so I have another cable feeding an HDHomeRun (the Quad, with two ATSC 1.0 and two ATSC 3.0 tuners) that also receives a very strong signal. I now get over the air TV to any PC, phone, or tablet in the house from the Televes. I am very happy with this purchase. I think it will work exactly as expected for many years to come. If you are thinking about an antenna for your home, think very hard about this one. It is packed with excellent electronics and is of excellent build quality.

This antenna performs very well. I live in Central Florida, around 40 miles from the main broadcast towers, and on my scan, received 113 channels, that was up from 85 with my old antenna. This antenna is designed to receive VHF Hi band (channels 7-13) and UHF (channels 14-35). It's confusing, but many TV stations say they are on one channel, but technically broadcast on another, so even if you have a CH 2-6 in your area, odds are it's really on a UHF channel. You can go to Rabbitears.info to see what channels are in your area, and what channel they are really on. Very few HD channels are actually on channels 2-6. This antenna has an amplifier which adjusts depending on how strong the local channels are, so it helps eliminate signal overload on your TV. I'm an engineer for two TV stations, so I'll give you an Antenna 101 class if you're interested after the antenna comparison. My previous antenna was an RCA outdoor antenna which worked very well. Below is a comparison of the signal strength on a TiVo with the antennas in the same location. Main Channels. Some claim unreasonable reception distances, like 175 miles, I've even seen some claim over 900 miles. This is impossible. TV Signals only travel line of sight, so if you could stand on the top of a tall TV tower (1500-200 ft tall), what you can see, is where the signal can travel. The signals can not bend around the earth, so in flat terrain, the signals can travel 60-75 miles. Yes, a larger antenna can bring up weaker stations, but can't break the laws of physics. If you live on a high mountain, and have a clear view to a tower, you can receive signals further away. Again, line of sight. Even if you could receive several hundred miles, your antenna would receive at least two TV stations on every channel, and because it's digital, the data would conflict and you couldn't receive any channels at all. Another false claim is that the antenna is designed for HD, 4K, even some say 8K reception. First, up until just recently, there were no 4K TV stations. There are some now, but require a special Next GEN TV or Tuner (ATSC 3.0) All that said, the fact is, TV signals are the same no matter what format they broadcast in. Any antenna can receive any type of broadcast. A good reputable antenna company will give you correct information. This antenna rates 75 miles, and that's true.

I needed a new attic antenna. I'm roughly 35 miles west of the Chicago transmitters. Fortunately, in this house, I have a direct shot through a vinyl sided gable, rather than through an asphalt shingled roof, like my previous situation. On the other hand, my attic space is very limited. Televes claims to use intelligent gain control in their pre-amp, which sounded good. What I liked: Sturdy build. Compact design while still supporting VHF-Hi. Built in pre-amp. Two outputs from the included pre-amp power supply. Completely toolless assembly. (I did need some tools to mount a short mast in the attic.) I found the assembly instructions to be quite clear. I was able to dismantle and re-assemble when I realized I didn't like how I ran the cable. What I didn't like: Nothing. :) O.K. The clamps that hold the reflectors are pretty tight, so it took strong fingers to pop them open again when I changed the cable routing, but that's about it. Performance: My previous installation was a mid-small Winegard VHF-Hi/UHF antenna with a low noise, ChannelMaster pre-amp feeding a ChannelMaster distribution amp. My current installation uses a 1-to-4 ChannelMaster distribution amp as well. The two installs are only 4 miles apart and both have a good line-of-site to the Chicago transmitters about 35 miles away. With the previous install, I detected just over 90 stations/sub-stations. I think 30 were watchable. With the new install, I detected 105 stations/sub-stations with about 95 watchable. Every major station, including the VHF-Hi, looked rock solid. The only issues were one minor off-axis station, and one low-power station. Summary: Its early days, but so far, I love this antenna and would highly recommend it.

I live in Ocala FL. I get stations from 3 DMA's . Tampa, Orlando and Gainesville FL. Tampa I am well out side their DMA but get a few channels. Gainesville the closest and strongest signals are19 to 44 miles out slightly NW. I had an issue with Gainesville's RF 8 channel 9 aa well as channel RF 29 which is 28 or 4 CBS. These stations co exist on the same tower. I have a tower 30 feet up and a dedicated 4228 with a Televes booster pointing toward Gainesville at about 28 feet up. Channel 9 I'd lose sporadically and break up in the evening. Channel 4 just disappeared all together at night sometimes. Channel 9 being VHF and the CM 4228 being UHF only antenna somewhat understandable. Channel 4 no clue way it gave me problems. This Ellipse antenna has solved all my issues. It is installed much lower than the old 4228. I get 100% signal and 100% quality from all of Gainesville channels. Note some of these channel running low power for full class A transmitters usually 1000 k watts these are running much lower in the 275K watts range and not line of sight. All channels are steady as a rock now. 9 does have the signal drop off at night, still shows 100% signal but quality drops off to mid 60's. RF 16 channel 20 drops quality as well but stays well above threshold of TV/DVR. I am using Channel Master DVR+ for reception. In summary no drop outs at all and signal stays strong all night long. Let me add this antenna not being low band VHF did pick up channel RF 4 WTSP 10 from Inverness Florida broadcasting at 300 watts and directing signal away from my location. I have never been able to get that channel before. I pointed this antenna towards Orlando and to my surprise it did very well. I use a Top Notch antenna XP 1500 with VHF add on to receive the ATSC 3.0 channels from Orlando. This antenna does an outstanding job of doing so. The ellipse did a very good job as well. These stations are in the 75 mile range from my home. While it did very well on the ATSC 1.0 UHF channels it struggled with the VHF 11 ATSC 3.0 and to lesser extent the UHF ATSC 3.0 channels. The XPS 1500 rarely as an issue with these channels. These signals are not line of sight. I must conclude 2 things. 1) This antenna is highly directional with only 40 degree beamwidth. 2) 70 miles is about all she'll do reliably. I will have to say the XP 1500 is even more directional and did have an height advantage being 35 feet up and on a rotor. The ellipse was about 22 feet up the tower with no rotor to fine tune the signal. This is the best antenna I have found for this area. Solved all my issues. The Channel Master 4228 antenna is an outstanding antenna as well but the VHF drops off rapidly. The XPS 1500 outperformed both the 4228 and the Ellipse but again it has the attitude advantage. I don't think you could go wrong with this antenna. However, know it is highly directional so if you are replacing a multidirectional antenna with this one be aware you may lose other stations outside of the 40 degree beamwidth. I installed this in the attic of a one-story house. I would estimate it's sitting about 16 ft off the ground. I was able to pick up 51 over the air stations. this thing is awesome. The instructions really aren't even necessary you can just put it all together with how it makes sense. When I was programming my TV I wasn't even using the included amplifier since it was just a 25 ft run to a single TV for testing. I still need to run this to our basement where the splitter is for all the coax in the house I'm sure I'll need the amplifier as the run will be much longer than. I did try adjusting the angle and direction it was pointed no matter which way I had it pointed the signals all were pretty good. Though they were slightly stronger when I pointed to the west towards downtown. My goal with this thing is to get my Boomer father-in-law to stop paying $150 plus a month for basic cable and just use the free over the air channels plus an internet connection to stream the more than 450 channels available on Samsung's TV Plus. This thing works so well, and the picture quality so good I'm probably going to buy a second one to install in my own attic. Highly recommend. I installed this in a house in Lincoln Nebraska located about 10 mi east of downtown. We're also about 40 mi southwest of Omaha. This thing was picking up signals from stations over 50 miles away in excellent quality. Update 7/4/25 I finally got around to installing the included amplifier. I had my TV auto program it's channel selection afterwards. Now I can pull 65 channels including channels from Omaha and beyond. Highly recommend.

easy to put together a little heavy but came together well channels are about the same amount I got on a cheaper antenna prior to this one from best buy

This antenna is Very well-made, and gets Extremely well reception! Before, I was getting 43 channels, and some of those didn’t come in very good, but with This antenna, I’m able to receive 106 channels, and that’s just aiming towards Orlando, if I aim towards Tampa or up north toward Ocala and Gainesville I can receive over 100 more channels. I did a lot of research before buying this one, and I am Extremely happy with my purchase. I Hghly recommend this antenna for people living in Central Florida… I’m sure it would work well in other areas too. Just know this antenna is Extremely directional and tiny adjustments make a Huge difference. I used the compass on my phone to pinpoint true north, then opened the map app on my phone and set it to true north and used it to pinpoint the exact direction of Orlando from my location and pointed the antenna Exactly at it.

We are in the process of moving off cable TV and have tried several cheap antennas with poor results. This Televes Ellipse antenna was recommended to us by the Antenna Man, and what a spectacular reception improvement it made. We are in the LA area with the transmission towers about 50 miles away, and the Televes Ellipse antenna is mounted outside on an eve, and we are using a Tablo as the receiver. We are extremely pleased with the results. Read on for our impressions: -- 260 CHANNELS RECEIVED!!: With the antenna pointed towards the transmission towers, we receive an amazing 260 channels. There is a mix of 1080i, 720p, and lower resolution channels, and the majority show excellent signal strength. Of those, there are bout 30 that we would watch routinely. -- EASY ASSEMBLY: Televes did a great job designing the antenna for easy assembly out of the box. All the components snap into place, and when a bolt is required,d they provide extra-large wing nuts for easy finger tightening. -- SUPERB DESIGN: There is a premap installed inside the antenna and powered over the RG6 cable from a splitter with an active power source for the amp located inside the house. This amp location is an indication of the quality of the design, along with the easy assembly, as the amp location provides the best antenna performance possible. Other cheap and poorly designed antennas will have the amp located at the end of the RF cable inside the house and suffer from all that cable loss. -- ONLY ONE COMPLAINT. The Type F connector on the antenna is very awkward to get to. If possible, I would recommend connecting the cable before antenna assembly and mounting. A great improvement would have been to add a short RG6 cable pigtail to extend the connector outside the antenna reflectors to make the connection easier.
