Does it get slippery when you get out the water to walk on land?

No I wear them in my water aerobics class and no slipping when I go from the pool to the shower,

Is the sole thick? Can the sole protect my feet from hot sand? I wanna try this for the beach.

Yes the sole is great and the entire shoe is washable. Don't put them in a dryer.

Are these good to take on a cruise and walk outside with and on the sand?

I think they would be. I wore them at the beach, walking up and down the beach, and in the water. Also wore them when walking in town to get to the location where we caught a shuttle boat out to an island where we walked around in the water for a while. They were very comfortable. They fit tight enough to keep the sand out, but not too tight as to hurt my feet. I love these shoes.
