He writes about the simple pleasures of exploring his neighborhood, while trying to forget the hell waiting for him at home. From high school to a world beyond the four walls that were his prison for so many years, The Privilege of Youth bravely and compassionately charts this crucial turning point in Dave Pelzerโs life and will inspire a whole new generation of readers. Review: This is an actual account of David Pelzer's life. - I had read the first book( A Child Called It) to a Special Ed student to whom I often read books. That was several years ago while I was working at the local high school. I reread it and was curious to find out how the rest of his story turned out, so I purchased the other three books. It's hard for me having raised my three children by myself to comprehend how a mother could even come up with the ideas this mother came up with let alone implement them. I'm glad he got his life straightened out. Review: What an inspirational man and father. - I have read "A Child Called It" several times throughout my life. The horror and pain he had to endure no human should. However, his sequels have showed how a person can rise above their raising and still be a good, wholesome, compassionate, and awesome member of society. It delivers the message of strength, resilience, and hope.

Another Excellent Book
WOW!!! That's about all you can say about the entire series of books by Dave Pelzer. I have an adopted son who's had some problems in his life. We bought all of these books, read them, and had him read them. I can only say that every one of us got a great deal out of them all. In fact, they are so awesome that suggested them to all of the other teachers at my school and even read them to my 6th grade students.

Amazing Man
I have read all 3 books A Child Called It, Lost Boy and the Privilege of Youth all in 1 week. I had trouble reading the first one due to the horrible circumstances for this poor child but I made it through. I had to buy the next 2 and have just finished all 3 today. What a powerful story of loss of a childhood, struggle of a teenager and finding the love he so desperately sought. I will now read A Man Named Dave. Congratulations of a life well lived.

Dave Pelzer Books
You just cannot phantom what Mr. Pelzer went through as a child. The courage is unbelievable and I admire him so very much. There is too much child abuse in society and children are tormented not to speak out because they love their parents the ones who are abusing. Mr. Pelzer's books are about himself and his horrible life as a child, teenager and young man. You have to read these books to better understand how much abuse is in our world. Then maybe it will help you realize that something needs to be done and it's better to make the call and be wrong than to not make it at all and possibly have a child lose his life. Order the books now!!

NURTURE or NATURE - PELZER proves something awesome
There can hardly be a boy more abused than Dave Pelzer - if anyone had a reson to 'turn out bad' it would be him, and folk would say 'No Wonder!' But he made good, he made choices regardless because of his nature If nurture was the key to how he would turn out he's have been completely insane, or a mass murderer, no question. Dave Pelzer is up there with Jesus as far as I am concerned! Inspirational to the max!
