Great
It's small, but it gets the job done. I use this to grind small fragments of semiprecious stones like amber, turquoise, and lapis. Then I use the gem dust to make epoxy resin art! It's a nice piece of ceramic and quite tough. It should do a fine job grinding spices, herbs, etc.

Worked great
We had to buy this to crush pills to put in a family members feeding tube. Regular pill crushers that we tried were too difficult. A pharmacist at Publix suggested we try this. It worked great, was easy to use and looked nice.

Kitchen Decor.
It is VERY Small. I am using it for a decoration. I bought a larger one to use.

Poorly designed
This mortar has a flat (rather than expected round) bottom and the pestle is not snug to it. The pestle is small and the handle is not comfortable in the hand. The working end of the pestle is also flattened and does not provide good grinding action. The quality of workmanship is poor (warps on the working surfaces).
