Can this be installed on hinged side of door to prevent slamming?

Yes, but it was less effective. I noticed it smashed it flat faster.

Most of the pictures look like interior doors (1 3/8"). Is the larger one for an entry door (1 3/4")?

The pinch guards are all the same size. The larger looking one is for illustrative purposes only. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
