The New Testament, student book: The Good News of Jesus Christ

I have been hosting/leading an adult Scripture study group for nearly five years. The group has studied and discussed all of Dr. Ralph's books and we are thrilled to plunge into this new book. The features which are most asked for by the group have now been included in the body of the text including an up to date organization of contents, a comprehensive index and glossary for the student, margin comments and a well structured lesson review for each part. The color, design and sturdy structure of the book are great. This is not just another textbook. It is a wonderful learning tool for anyone interested in a contextual understanding of the New Testament and a great tool for those interested in group learning and discussion. As a seminary graduate and lifetime learner, I cannot say too many good things about this, and all of Dr. Ralph's books. And by the way, Dr. Ralph's books should not be considered "exclusively Catholic". Anyone with an interest in exploring Scripture from a critical perspective will find her teaching thought provoking and rewarding.

This is a good book for those of us that want to become familiar with the basics of how this most meaningful book came about. Sometime we forget that the bible ( in this case the New Testament) was put to pen by human beings who had a reason for wanting to share the good news that they heard with others by using by the written word.
