Okay - so picture this, January, I'm moving from West Virginia to Louisiana by myself. Moving guys driving the bulk of my stuff but car will still be totally full. Purchase this on recommendation from a friend. It is totally wonderful and worth the investment. MY ONLY WARNINGS come dependent on the season (and car model) and/or your height!The seasons: I was moving in January and loading my car in a parking lot that had a lot of ice that hadn't melted. My car (crosstrek) doesn't have door frames that make it super easy to step up on and load things. Unfortunately, because it was so icy, I couldn't put down a step stool. So, double check that your car is easy to step up or make sure you can use a stool!My height: I encountered an issue at the last minute where I couldn't get it zipped in the back of the car because it was just a bit too tall and awkward away from where I could reach. Again, if I could have used a stepstool, it would have been fine.It's definitely ideal to be able to strap it down to roof racks and I didn't feel that things slid around much. It stayed dry and felt safe. Great buy.

This bad boy strapped to our roof took everything we couldn’t fit inside and laughed at us like, “That all you got?” I’m talking 3 medium suitcases, 2 large suitcases, 2 boogie boards, and 3 beach chairs. Yep, all of it. Like Mary Poppins’ bag, but for over-packers.Here’s the kicker—we don’t even have a roof rack. Zero problem. We used the included metal door hooks, cinched those straps tight, and it held like a champ. No movement. No slippage. No flapping. No drama.Then the rain came. Florida rain. The kind that soaks you to your soul in 30 seconds. But this thing? 100% waterproof. Bone dry inside. Thick material that feels like it could survive a hurricane. I honestly expected to crawl on the highway and still have it balloon up like a parachute—NOPE. We cruised at 80 MPH like it wasn’t even there. No wind noise, no buffeting, nothing. Just smooth sailing.Size-wise? It’s a monster. Easily twice the capacity of those overpriced hardshells, and at less than half the price. When we got home, I folded it up and tossed it into its compact soft carrying case—try doing that with a hard case that eats up half your garage.Bottom line: This is now my permanent road trip sidekick. This rooftop carrier is the perfect solution for those of us that take lots of stuff. It is huge, made well with heavy canvas, and the zippers are sealed and tight. We laid it out and loaded it on our basement floor first. After it was full, we took a pic so we knew exactly how to load it once it was on the roof. We have a Suburban so we needed a 3 step ladder on each side to load it (yes, the step ladders traveled with us) and knowing what is going where before you get up there made it easy. We went thru a day of torrential rain resembling a monsoon both going on vacay and returning home. Because of a couple negative reviews about things getting wet, we packed it with things that could get wet and not ruined. I can safely say, every single thing was bone dry going and coming back home. As long as you follow the directions, put the flaps down and attach the velcro sides, and totally zip it shut - everything will stay dry. We also made sure we did not load any things that did not have rounded edges that could have rubbed a hole in it in transit. We learned that lesson the hard way with our ebike cover. After each trip, we folded it back up and stored it in the handy bag it came in. I wanted the 28 cu. ft. one but it would not have arrived in time so we got the 23 cu. ft. It worked out well. It'll be great for the beach this year - like having an extra trunk on your roof.

I never do reviews but on a 12 hour drive from Ohio to South Carolina we drove with a storm the whole time. Roughly 8 hours straight of downpour and I thought surely by Honda civic with no roof rack and this bag on it would either blow away or at the least be soaked. Never moved an inch and everything stayed dry. Complete game changer for cars with no roof rack. Super easy to set up.

Performed as promised thru 1 thousand mile trip which included rain. Everything arrived dry. The lock did not reset from the factory numbers and you might want to switch it out. That’s why 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, highly satisfied.

I could not have been happier with this purchase! I bought it to be able to pack some extra stuff that we couldn’t fit in the moving truck. Let me tell you, this holds a TON of whatever you can throw in it! It held up perfectly with zero issues traveling across the country more than 2500 miles. You lose a bit of gas mileage, but saved way more than getting a bigger moving truck. Highly recommend!

Arrived very quickly. This was easy to install on our minivan. We purchased the largesst size and it fit on top with no problems. It came with everything we needed to install and even extra pieces for different style roof racks. We haven't used it in the rain yet so can't say if everything would stay dry but there were no dust or bugs inside when we unpacked. The zipper is covered by a flap so I don't think we would have problems with moisture in it like we have with our old roof bag. We were able to pack in 4 large suitcases and many other bags and boxes and maybe room for a little more as well. It comes with a storage bag so it was easy to put away for the next trip.
