Made a first batch about 36 hours after I received it! Works as expected, simple setup, etc. My only suggestion would be Add A Lid! There is a lot going on in my house and it would be nice to put it in the freezer without suff getting knocked into it while it’s freezing. Thanks.

I wanted this to replace an ice cream maker which had a motor too weak to turn the churners when using a thick custard ice cream base. KitchenAid motors are definitely powerful enough, but even at the lowest (Stir) speed it churns faster than a dedicated ice cream maker. I don’t know how much that matters. But in any case the instructions seem to imply that this will attach firmly to your mixer. In fact, it is only held loosely in place by the friction of rubber against metal. But once inserted into the bowl it is held and operates well, even though it seems to have an almost jury rigged quality to how it is put together. One other thing—when the freezing liquid inside the bowl is fully thawed and you shake the bowl it sounds like something solid is rattling around, not just the liquid swishing around. Is something broken off inside? I have no way of knowing.

This is an excellent ice cream maker attachment for the Kitchen Aid Mixer. I've had it for a couple of years. I make my own homemade yogurt and use the machine to make frozen yogurt. My granddaughter borrowed it and liked it so much she got one for herself. My daughter is borrowing it right now so I'm getting her one for her birthday next month so I can get it back.

This unit does not freeze the mixture to make ice cream.The great price matters little...it doesn't work. Waste of money and time.
