Pioneer Pet Replacement Filters for Ceramic & Stainless Steel Fountains, Raindrop Filters (9 Filters)

I have purchased these filter refills for our Pioneer Pet Raindrop recirculating water bowl for years and they work very well. I think the reason that some say they don't last or work properly is maybe because they aren't being used correctly. You have to clean out the entire water bowl, including taking apart the motor and cleaning it too. If you follow the instructions it works great and lasts as long, if not longer, than advertised. I also rinse the bowl out completely in the middle of the time for replacing the filter and can use the filter for an extra 2 or 3 weeks.

I was dismayed to find out I could no longer purchase these filters in person at any of the pet supply places near me! Thankfully, the internet delivers and Amazon has just about anything you can ask for. I was concerned by some of the other reviews that I might receive filters of a different quality than I was used to, but the 3-pack of 3-packs I received seem to be the real deal, and just like the other filters I had used previously. My cat adores his fountain and it helps me keep his water so much fresher for him, so I'm grateful that I can continue to use my existing fountain (without having to rig old filters to be reusable...yet).

These are the real deal and are very long lasting. We, stretch ours to the limit by using bottled water in our Pioneer Teardrop fountain since our cat has, serious bladder disease and needs to drink a lot of fresh water. We keep the bowl in a high traffic area, so there are definitely things getting kicked up into the water like lint and dirt particles and these filters are small, compact, no charcoal mess, and really do a fabulous job of keeping the water in the teardrop fountain as clear as larger/higher priced filters. We can easily use them for 6 weeks... often stretching it longer because the water is still clear and the pump running well without any real gunk when we take the motor apart to clean it periodically. Just open the package, run the filter under cold water for a minute, and snap it into the slot and you're ready to go. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to help increase the amount of water their pet drinks. It is an excellent system, very easy to clean, and stylish. It is not a replacement for good hygienic care of your pet's drinking bowl. We have 2 dogs (with long hair) and 3 cats. They all drink out of the Pioneer Pet Fountain. I have found that the fountains filters last longer than advertised. I use reverse osmosis filtered water. However, I do clean the fountain completely every 2 to 3 days. It is a very easy system to maintain so this is hardly much more effort than washing a bowl. That is the real advantage of this system besides its good looks. The point of the fountain is to encourage the animals to drink more water. This it has done very well with all of our pets. It is not necessarily to simplify the pet keepers life by not having to clean a drinking bowl. The filters are to help remove particulates from the water and help prolong the life of the pump. The water still needs to be replaced regularly to be kept fresh. Pur or Brita type filters only filter primarily for what humans can taste. Those filters do not actually purify the water so various bacteria etc will still be present in the water. Once those filters remove much of the chlorine, the water left to sit will often become slimy as there is no longer adequate chlorine to keep it sanitary.

Top line: Will remove the finer things (hair, dirt) from your bowl; not designed for chunkier things like food Good: Purchased for my stainless Pioneer pet fountain, these filters do a great job keeping pet hair, dirt, and other small contaminants out of my pets' water. They are easy to install and also remove and clean, extending the life. I typically get about 3 months out of one, which is more than reasonable to me. Bad: Whether it's the pressure of the pump or configuration of the filter, it's not quite capable of trapping larger particles. Things like food or bugs are not going to be filtered--there's simply not enough space/power in the filter to pull that off. It's very similar to an air conditioning filter in that way. I've also had a couple filters come apart on me while removing them (to clean the whole unit). They separate at the seam and black carbon dust leaks out. Both times, they were near the end of their life, so maybe it's more of a durability issue. Other: If you have an expectation that using this filter = never having to clean your bowl again, expect disappointment. These filters provide peace of mind and seem to make my pets happier / more willing to hydrate. Based on the cost (overall low), I consider that good value.

What can I really say about this other than it’s a cat fountain filter? It seems to do the job just fine. Every 3 days, I wash the cat fountain & spray down the filter to make sure no gunk is on it before i reassemble fountain & pour reverse osmosis water into it. I once used regular tap water in the fountain & regret it. The water didn’t remain clear for as long before a film started to appear on the water. I don’t know exactly how that relates to the filter itself, but it was a worthwhile note to share to other pet owners using fountains with this filter.

These filters fit my ceramic cat fountain and do the trick like the original one

I bought the pioneer raindrop fountain and once it arrived I realized that the flutters need to be changed every 4 weeks or so. The deal offered here was much cheaper than all the other alternatives and the shipping was fast and convienent. Also easy to change the filter.
