Can it blow small, annoying neighborhood children back into their own yard?

What you need is the Binford Tot-Pusher 3000. It's designed just for that purpose. Anyone notice burning oil or burning plastic fumes?

I purchased through Amazon a Hurricane 6" clip fan. I've had the fan a year now and have been using it for at least 8 hours every day. Yesterday I started to notice what smelled like SMOKE of some kind. I though maybe it was coming through an open window, such as from cigarette for example. Today, and after reading this comment, which I found while beginning some research, I have become certain that the smoky smell is coming from the fan itself, which is located right next to me. I hate to let this pass without a complaint. Very disappointing, and probably dangerous, too.

Does anyone know the exact dimensions? my window opening is exaclty 20.5 inches, if it is 20.6 it will not fit.

Hope it fit! For those thinking similarly, you will get much more air exchange if you leave the fan a foot back from the window blowing towards the outside. The forced air from the box fan then carries more air out with it via the Bernoulli principle. Open a different window in the room to allow the cool air in!

how can you clean this fan

Per the instructions: “1. Be sure to unplug the power cord from the outlet before cleaning. 2. Plastic parts should be cleaned with mild soap and a damp cloth or sponge. Thoroughly to remove soap film with clean water. 3. Be sure not to get water or other liquid on or inside the motor.” As for the inside, it doesn’t say. I would assume you can get inside by prying the plastic parts apart (there are no screw), but you would have to do this very carefully as to not damage the plastic.
