I just received this and have not used it yet. I will update my review when I have used it a bit. Seems solid, nice aesthetic. The pictures are fairly accurate however it doesn't have the brand name on the top of the drive like the picture shows. (which I prefer). One thing I wanted to mention is the description of the item talks about having two cables for the operation of the drive. After receiving it, and unboxing it, the only cable is the USB cable. There is no need for a separate power cable.After using this, it works exactly how it is intended. My only beef is that it cannot be detected as a bootable drive with my system. I have tried it on two, and cannot get the bios to recognize it as bootable. Making it difficult to install Windows on a brand new computer that doesn't have a bay for a DVD rom

I bought this for use with my new Asus T100TA laptop pc and happy to say it works a treat! I just plugged it in to usb port and windows 8 recognized it straight away. It hardly used any power and ran happlly on battery power from the pc while I installed MS Office.I haven't tried burning anything yet, but let's face it, we really only need the dvd drives to read or watch a disc. So for me it's perfect.

This DOES NOT work with MacBook as advertised. $8.62 was deducted from refund for return shipping. It is a scam to make money I believe.

This is a fantastic product. Many of my DVDs and CDs from earlier days are in less then supreme conditions. I have had trouble uploading them on my iTunes Library. With this product, I was able to salvage almost all of them by converting to digital format. It's error correction ability is the best I have seen thus far.

Didn't have high hopes given the price and no power, but I needed something for my Surface Pro 2 to play/burn CDs. Seek time is great. No issues. Even connected through a 3.0 4-port hub along with my corded keyboard, a USB controller and an external USB harddrive. The optical drive does not slow down while others are running.

Works perfectly, I love it! Great price, too!
