Why does it require batteries when it doesn’t have a place for batteries?

Thank you for your inquiry. This toy set does not require batteries. It is friction powered, no batteries are needed.

can the boat go in the water?

You’d have to unscrew it from the trailer. And even then, it’s still very cheaply made. So I’d say no.

Are the truck & boat made of plastic?

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes both the truck and boat are made of plastic.
