20V dustbuster Small Vacuum Cleaner Portable Vacuum Hand Held Cordless for Home and Car, Includes Rechargeable Battery (BCHV001C1)

My previous Black & Decker BDH2000L, which I had for years, recently the motor popped and smelled awful. I was afraid of using it. I decided to buy a new portable vacuum. Since I had several Black & Decker devices over the years, and I've had good experiences, I wanted to buy this one. It's lightweight and for the size, it's good. The design, is great though I wish the nozzle was longer. It comes with a small extension, but it's short. As a tall person, I have to bend down a bit more than my previous small vacuum. The vacuum suction is strong. Just as good as the previous one I had. But the noise level is very loud. If you have a baby or people sleeping, this will wake them up. What I like is the removable battery. For those who say the battery died when they got it, or it died later on, as far as I know, batteries aren't good in cold weather. Most people leave these machines in cold closets or in their garage. Cold weather ruins batteries in my experience. So far, the battery life lasts a long time. But it does take a long time to recharge. For the price, I think it's worth it. I like Black & Decker, and I've had great experiences with their products. If things change, I'll edit this review. But I hope the device will last a long time.

This is the best minivac that I've ever owned, though I've only had it a week. It is simple, and maybe lacks some things that make other vacs better (like an integrated telescoping neck), but it does simple vacuuming well. We generally use on kitchen tile and door mats. It has a large capacity and is very easy to empty. I read one review that said this didn't have enough suction?!?! Maybe they didn't' get the 20v unit (I think there is a 12v one). While it does move a significant amount of air out its side vents, that is probably part of why it has great suction. It does well at sucking pet food crumbs out of the pile of our rug/mat in the kitchen. Its like a mini shop vac. The add-on battery design is great. No reasonably priced minivac with an onboard battery is going to match the battery capacity. Using an external battery means that they didn't have to sacrifice battery size for space when designing it. You don't have to constantly set it to recharge like my old minivac. The battery is also a great weight counter balance. When you hold the unit out with one hand, it feels balanced, not heavy.

First off it's not as loud as some people say unless you have super sensitive ears. Does just what I expected from it, picks up spotty cat and dog hair on carpet and decent on car carpet. Pretty good suction, light weight and fairly easy to clean. B&D has too many choices with very little difference if any, talk about overkill. Picked this one because it's 20v with a replaceable battery and most of their dustbusters are throw away after irreplaceable battery dies. Only been using about a week so can't speak on longevity will update. Also forgot to add dropped it from about 3 ft. onto a hard wood floor and no problems.

Great power and easy to use. Very light weight car vac which does well in the Garage and kitchen^^ Easy to clean an last fairly long without recharging. The battery having to be detached to charge is a bit annoying but considering how often the battery goes bad before the device I think it'll last longer than the traditional 2 years. The battery it uses is used on several devices and easily found when it needs replacement.

Finally have a replacement battery with great suction - no more throwing away my old units that ran fine but the battery was dead!

I had an old model for, I’m guessing 10 or more years. My daughter used it to vacuum up a “wet” mess. It still worked for a little while, but made a loud high pitched sound & wasn’t quite as powerful. It eventually quit working a few weeks later. I researched other makers. Some offered a bunch of different head options this one doesn’t have, but I couldn’t use the same rechargeable battery. Over the years we bought other Black+Decker tools that used this same battery. Their weed wacker, hedge trimmer, blower are great for me since they are light weight for my arthritic hands & fibromyalgia. Since we acquired a collection of the interchangeable batteries we decided to buy this one without all the different options. It did not disappoint. The suction is great & battery lasts quite awhile. It seems to be quieter too. The first purchased one got used for cleaning out poop from my daughter’s Guinea pig crates. It reduced cleaning time at least 70% & the pigs don’t seem to mind it much. I can’t fathom the idea of using that one to vacuum crumbs off my counters so I bought another one for household use & vehicles. Since the price point is really good, I figured why not? The only thing I wish it had is a wall mount to store it on.

This should be "0", not even 1. Totally worthless if there is even the slightest bit of DUST If there is, it will be all over you, your surroundings, and unimaginable places that only the hurricane force of the exhaust of this thing can blow it. Oh yeah, the operator as well. Now if you are cleaning a barn or an old building, great. But if you have any fire burning device in your home like a fireplace, wood stove or even a coal burning device - WATCH OUT. Not one bit will be in this contraption, but all over your house.

Useful item

I've owned several handheld vacs over the years. All the others were absolute crap; If they worked well initially, they died within a few months when the battery wouldn't hold a charge anymore. And then you couldn't get a replacement battery. This is the first handheld vacuum I've owned that works well (it really sucks), holds a charge (15 - 20 min continuous operating time), recharges reasonably quickly, and the (Li) battery hasn't died in the year we've had it. And when it does die, standard Li batteries from B&D will fit the device. Yes, it was more expensive, but it's been more than worthwhile for the quality of the product we received. Thank you, Black & Decker, for designing and producing a great product!

Excellent product

I use this vacuum several times each week. I have pets and it is great for cleaning up their mess. I use it in my car. I use it to tidy up my backyard and front porch. It handles all that I throw at it. I wish replacement filters were easily located, but I have yet to see them offered. The battery is compatible with other B&D products. It is easily cleaned. It does not pick up leaves or gravel well. It picks up cat litter and spilled coffee grounds well. It has also been used to clean up mess when I’ve been sick.
