Review: Useful book - Amazing book Review: Power-packed ideas/actions condensed into one book - I am not sure if this is the original work of the author. But it does not matter. This one book contains powerful practical ideas that can replace 10 other books. These ideas are very practical and can drastically improve self-discipline, overcome procrastination and achieve goals. 1. 40% rule (David Goggins) 2. 10X rule (Grant Cardone) 3. Box breathing (Jacko Williams) 4. 10 minutes rule (Indistractable) 5. Urge surfing 6. Body scan meditation / physical sensation observation 7. Purpose, Autonomy, Mastery 8. Flow (Mihaly) 9. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation 10. Emotional intelligence and many more. The good part is that the experients and various studies were very briefly discussed. There are not too many personal stories discussed. For people who are into self-help, these ideas may be repetitive but this book can work as one reference manual for implementing the ideas. Highly reccomonded.

In thirukural 350 years before Christ,Self discipline is said to important than life itself
This is must read book, knowing the path is different from walking the path, discipline is very much personal but if a society is completely disciplined say 90% the whole country will eventually be disciplined because of the ripple effect and it will immensely benefit the world. 3000 years before India was like that, it was a nation of discipline in every aspect of life, discipline even to wage a war on enemy just like that you cannot go for war, discipline to wake up, to take bath, to have food, to do your duty it got reflected in every aspect. For 2000 years India contributed close to 30% of the world gdp, this is what happens when a whole nation is disciplined, the country remained so rich that inflation adjusted value of the value looted by British is over $140 Trillion but with 78 years of freedom from British, India is again overtaken UK and poised to become 3Rd largest economy in the world That's because middle class population still carry the civilizational values. Amazing read author should go into these civilizational values as well, the golden road in just two days has became number 1 in India 🇮🇳 should collaborate. synopsis at the end of every chapter and complete synopsis at the end of book makes it more interesting and the information sticky. Prayers for prosperity and peace for Peter Hollins. Wishing an abundant life!

Demystifying Discipline
Discipline has always been considered as a giant skill meant for an exclusive set of humans. This book demystifies the perception and breaks it down into easily understandable concepts that can be effectively actioned. Must read.

Finally, a Book on Discipline That Actually Makes Sense
I’ve tried everything to be more disciplined. I've made detailed plans, set alarms, and tried to "just be more motivated," but I always ended up back on the couch, scrolling through my phone. I always thought something was wrong with my willpower. This book, "The Science of Self-Discipline," completely changed my perspective. Peter Hollins explains that just trying harder isn't the answer. He breaks down the science behind why we give in to temptation, and it was like a lightbulb went off for me. The most helpful part was the chapter on "engineering your environment." I decided to try it out myself. For years, I struggled to practice my guitar for even 15 minutes a day because it was tucked away in its case in the closet. After reading the book, I took the guitar out and put it on a stand right in the middle of my living room, where I see it constantly. It sounds so simple, but it worked! I've played it every single day for the past two weeks. The book taught me to make my goals easier to start and my temptations harder to get to. It’s not about having superhuman willpower; it’s about setting yourself up for success. The book is full of practical tips like this. It's not just a bunch of rah-rah motivational fluff. It gives you a real look into the psychology of what drives you and what drains you. If you feel like you're constantly fighting a losing battle with yourself to get things done, I can't recommend this book enough. It’s a clear, helpful guide to finally achieving what you set out to do.

Very good book
This is an amazing book. It provides insight into why we struggle being disciplined and also many ways to overcome that. Some techniques that the author mentions are very minimalistic yet seem very effective. 5 stars to this book!!!

Enlightening and encouraging
A science based approach that makes sense but was actually a revelation to me. It explains how self discipline is attainable by even well practiced, slothful, hedonists like me. I found making notes and personalising them to my life helpful but there is also a really useful summary at the end as a reminder of the basic points. It has given me hope after a lifetime of not following through, seeing my goals evaporate and wondering why I don't achieve what I set out to do. It also made me realise some if the traps I constantly fall into such as reliance on motivation, waiting for the right time etc. It also made me realise that to get good at it, practice is required, so here goes!

Simple to understand, brief and well written.
One of the best non-fiction books I have read in terms of clarity and brevity. It is not a fun read like one would find with authors like Malcolm Gladwell but if the point is to gain knowledge in order to become self-disciplined then Peter Hollins is the guy I want writing about it (No - I don't know him). While Hollins understands the science behind self-discipline he does not write in that language. The writing is simple and clear. I have read a lot of the studies Hollins cites in this book. I understand them better when he summarizes them and puts them together with other studies to create a cogent, holistic understanding of self-discipline. Hollins is perhaps the most gifted writer I have found in terms of simplifying a subject to a readily understandable level and making it useful yet brief.
