Good gift for retro gamers
I bought this as a gift for a friend who used to play on the old games consoles. As soon as it was delivered I ended up looking through it myself before giving it as a gift. It's a good book, with lots of pictures and really brings back memories of the old games and consoles.

Nice little book but not essential
I got this book for myself as I used to have a game and watch and game consoles during the 80s and 90s. It's a nice looking book with plenty of colours and images. For the price you get a decent little read, but there were a few missing items I would have liked to have seen. It's not an essential book but it's worth having for around £6.

not full reference book if search video game consoles nice to have.
Like easy to read on print size and book size, reference on video games consoles and some games only basic what might known in your time. Still useful to have.

My ten year old son adored this book. Some folks from the podcast Besties recommended it and I know it would be a hit. Great photos, fun facts. This is a must have for anyone who’s into retro gaming.

Beau livre et bien fait

The book is mediocre, not more, not less. It's for example completely omitting the first video game by W. Higinbotham (Tennis for Two) and there are some strange informations as well. For example telling that ST and Amiga were technically on par is not exactly right, the ST had a Midi-port while the Amiga had specialized chips like Agnus and Denise that made a huge difference. It was Nintendo who first used shoulder buttons on the SNES-pad, not Sony. Looking into games for example Moonstone was fun but not that important to gaming history, and it surely was not a RPG. The author's view is very british, showing in his praise for Sir Clive Sinclair and british gaming studios like Ocean, who just left a smaller impression regarding the rest of the world ...I could go on. Therefore the book is a nice read if you already know your stuff about gaming history and recognize the errors, but not a book for beginners. The should get another book, like the Ultimate History of Video Games by Steven Kent for example, which is not much more expensive.
