Rear Roof Spoiler Volkswagen VW MK8 GTI R 2021-2024 Gloss Black Rear Window Top Boot Wing Lip Factory Outlet (B Style)

I had purchased an aftermarket rear spoiler from a different vendor in the past for my 2015 VW GTI MK7, but I sold that GTI & bought a 2022 VW GTI MK8. The rear spoiler for the 2022 GTI just wasn't cutting it for me & I wanted it to look more aggressive, sportier. After searching a ton of rear aftermarket spoilers for this car, I found this reasonably priced one with reviews that assured me that it was a quality product for my needs. I chose not to spend the $1K for the MK8 R and find this alternative to be a great choice. I found an installer nearby that could do the job right, since I am not so inclined. They did a great job, put the additional 3M adhesive recommended & the spoiler is firmly in place, ensuring that I was still able to open & close the trunk without any interference from the rear spoiler. The product arrived earlier than expected & in the condition that it was supposed to, no scratches or uneven painting. The black glossy paint matches my already black pearl paint & I am more that pleased. The car now looks like it should have from the beginning, highly recommend!

Looks really nice

The fitment is poor, it sits an inch back from where it should, and the support in the middle doesn't make firm contact with the hatch, it's got a different curve than the car (it's tough to see in the third picture because the tape in the middle is hiding the gap, but it's not making contact). Most of the product photos and the review photos show a different product entirely, with sharp points on the ends. The received product is rounded and doesn't fit anything like what is shown. The way it sits on the car, not all of the tape makes contact. I installed it 48 hours ago and haven't driven with it yet, it just sat in the driveway. I took a look today and saw that the tape on the front had lifted off after sitting in the sun. I installed it exactly as the instructions suggest; cleaning, wiping with alcohol, and using the adhesive promoter. I decided to remove the spoiler and saw that only some of the contact patch was actually making contact with the car, meaning only a small amount of the applied tape was doing anything at all.

I think this wing/ spoiler looks great on the MK8 GTI that I have. It is a piano black color that is glossy and is very similar in color to the deep black pearl color. The reason it is not five stars is due to a few issues. Some fitment issues where there are gaps. In addition to that, the paint is not very high quality and already arrived with small damaging that I had to use touch up paint for. Also installation is not very straightforward if you have never done something like this before. I have some experience with cars so I knew that adhesion promoter would be necessary and I also used my own 3M mounting tape. This spoiler does have holes it seems for mounting but I would not suggest trying to do that since you may damage the underlying spoiler already on the car. For the price of this spoiler, I think it looks great, but the build quality could be a bit better.

2024 GTI here! Very good fitment, easy to install, and being a black vehicle the abs plastic color it matches pretty nicely! Some tips on install • make sure to line up the wing before fully installing it. I over shot the wing and it rubs when you open the trunk. Easy correct is just pulling the wing back •clean the trunk prior to install •try to let sit for 12-24 hours before driving high speeds

Didn't use the tape that came with the package. If I did, I'm sure this would have fallen off already. Used 3m auto tape. Wing seems to be on pretty good, but does not line up as shown in photos of product. Like other reviews, there is about a half inch gap on each side of the wing. My car is black so it doesn't bother me too much. What bothers me is the single support piece in the middle of the wing does not sit flat on the trunk. Leaving a noticeable gap. Would stay away from this product and spend the extra money on something better.

If you are like me and did not want to pay 1000$ plus for the OEM Golf R spoiler. This is the one to go with. Comes with everything needed for install. Only thing I added was RTV for extra bonding. The spoiler fit on the oem wing like a Lego piece. Settled right in place and very easy to align. Very happy!

The shape of the wing looks good but it looks like the Quality control is slacking. There’s a little chip on the left side of the wings and the paint underneath doesn’t match the rest of the wing.
