10011 Power Steering Stop Leak - 1 Quart

I used the Lucas Oil Power Steering Stop Leak when a steering pump in an older vehicle was starting to weep, and it helped me get more miles out of it. It definitely reduced the leaks and gave the system a bit more life before I had to go ahead with a proper replacement. Full disclosure I’m generally not a fan of additives as a long‑term fix because they don’t actually repair worn parts and can only slow down deterioration. With that said, in this case it did what it claimed in the short term: it quieted down some noise, reduced the amount of fluid loss, and let me postpone a new pump for a while. If you’re just trying to buy time before a service or overhaul, this does help slow minor leaks and make the system quieter. Just don’t think of it as a permanent fix, plan to replace the failing components when you can. Pros • Reduces minor leaks • Can quiet noisy steering pumps • Helps extend the life of a marginal system Cons • Not a cure. Only a temporary measure • Not something I’d rely on long term Overall, this additive did exactly what I needed for the moment, but real repairs will always be the lasting solution.

I had to leave a review for this. My power steering leak was so bad it blew through 2 rubber boots around my inner tie rod! I replaced my pump and line but it was my rack and pinion that was leaking so unbelievably bad to the point I would lose almost 1qt a day out my rack seals and Into the boot that just exploded twice. Now I ended up using about 6 quarts of this lucas power steering fix, they recommended that 2 bottles should be enough but my leak was so bad it didn't stop it and I went ahead and just kept using this product because when I added regular power steering fluid I was leaking almost a quart a day. Using this lucas power steering fluid cost me a few dollars more but it also slowed the leak to where in the long run I was spending less on this product then on regular power steering fluid. I basically just kept adding this product and it slowed more and more over time until it finally sealed it up. A happy accident as I had no hope after there recommended 2 bottles would do it, but not there fault my leak was really bad. More like a hole!! But it actually stopped the leak and I have not had to use it anymore after 6 bottles. Completely worth it . I will say it's hard to pour in the winter so keep it warm. And on start up on cold winters the power steering pump makes some noise for a few seconds because it's pretty think in the winter. I'm sure it will stop once I'm able to add regular power steering fluid again since the pump won't have to work so hard to suck in the fluid. But seriously I don't care. Amazing product. Thank u

I've had a slow leak in my power steering for my 1998 Honda Accord for about 2 years now. Up until recently I was able to just add a little fluid every few weeks and then drive normally. I was just using whatever the cheapest honda compatible fluid I could find. But about 4 months ago it started getting worse. I tried several of the leak stop brands available but this one definitely helped more than the others. None of them including Lucas really stopped the leak but the Lucas definitely slowed it down more than the others. It's very thick like pouring maple syrup and that's how I think it helps slow down the leak. One thing I did notice that you should be aware of. On the really cold days, down around 0 degrees Farenheit, the thickness of this stuff made the steering pump not work until the car had warmed up a bit. I actually had to open the hood and give the pulley attached to the pump a little push to get it moving. So if you live in a really cold area this could potentially be a problem I think. Lucas Stop Leak helped me postpone repairing my steering but it wasn't really a permanent solution. What I did to solve my problem was I added some Auto Pro UV dye to the system and after a few days I could see the leak from a very unexpected spot. There was no leakage from the rack or from the high pressure side. It was leaking right near where the pipe goes in front of the radiator on the low pressure tube. I was able to replace the rubber hose that connects in that area and it sealed off the system. Bottom line is this stuff did work to slow down my leak and gave me a few extra weeks to search for a solution. My only reservation about it is the reaction to really cold weather. It might keep your steering from working in ultra cold regions so be prepared for that.

This is really good stuff but it is not a miracle worker either. I had a bad leak in my Volvo V70 rack. One of the boots on the rack tore open and I lost most all of the power steering fluid very quickly. Since I've replaced both of the boots and begun replacing the leaking fluid with this, it has made a big difference. The rack will still leak somewhat but with new boots on both sides that are clamped down it seems to build up a certain amount of fluid in the boots and then has stopped needing more fluid. Steeering-wise the rack works very smoothly now. Lucas makes quality additives but if your rack leaks badly it may not fix it. Be sure to check whether the bellows boots are torn which will allow dirt to get into your rack. Replacing the rack in this V70 Volvo is costly and a royal pain to do it yourself. I am happy with the fixes that I have made to keep it going without needing one. -SteveK

(Review as of April 22, 2026) To start, I have a 2007 Audi A4 Quattro creeping up on a quarter million miles, with a fair share of problems that most cars might have at almost 20 years old and so many miles. Yesterday, out of nowhere, my steering wheel became kinda stiff, with a vibrating/rubbing feeling and sound. I checked the fluid level, and it was super low, which surprised me since there were no leak marks or issues prior. I topped it off, and just a couple of miles later, same issue. I’m on a budget right now and really don’t want to replace the rack and pinion if possible, so I looked around and found this. I was super skeptical at first for a lot of reasons: I wasn’t even sure it was safely compatible with my car, and we all hear about “miracle cures” that are too good to be true. I was desperate and figured I’d try it. This fluid is quite thick, much more than the PSF I was using before, but I guess it makes sense given that it needs to recondition seals. I sucked out as much of the PSF as I could, filled the rest with Lucas, and took it for a drive. I drove it for about 10 miles, and there were no issues with steering, sound, or feeling. I was shocked. I came home, checked the levels, and topped off the little bit that was missing. I will continue to update this review if there are any changes, positive or negative. For the money, this has got to be the best value I’ve ever gotten for automotive repair/tinkering. It’s not a miracle (because it doesn’t actually FIX the issue), but it’s pretty close, and you can’t really beat that. Give it a try before you spend a whole lot on the repair; you might be pleasantly surprised, as I was.

Enter Lucas Oil Power Steering Stop Leak. I’ve used other “miracle fluids” before that claimed to stop leaks but really just made my garage smell funny. This one, though? Within a couple of days my steering wheel went from a full-body workout to one-finger smooth. The leak slowed to a crawl, and now, weeks later, I barely notice a drip. My car stopped groaning like a haunted house every time I parked, and honestly, I stopped groaning too. I’ve been using this for about two months now, driving daily, and I’m impressed. For a fraction of the cost of replacing racks, pumps, or hoses, this stuff is basically the automotive equivalent of duct tape for your steering system.

Perhaps I should give it a lower score as it did not eliminate the leak fully, but chose to give it 5 stars, as it allowed me to drive this very old (2024) SUV for another year without having to replace the power steering. Adding power steering and this Lucas Stop leak significantly reduced the intervals betwen topping off. It wasn't a cure in my case, but it did help, granted it was a very old car with a power steering system that needed replacement.

Great value for the larger size vs the retail store 300ml bottles. You’ll always need more, when there is a steady leak.

Everything LUCAS works better. Pulled out the old steering fluid and replaced it all with Lucas. After a couple of weeks, there should be no more leaks. However, you should remove and replace the Lucas with fresh Lucas after about a month. Then, your power steering will work much quieter.
