Motorcycle Fuel Systems TechBook: All carburettor types, along with fuel injection, from the basic theory to practical tuning (Haynes Techbook) Review: All I ever wanted to know about my carb intake.... - Picture this: Spend a three day weekend stripping, cleaning, polishing and replacing hard to find parts on a 1979 motorcycle, it's finally back together!! Some fresh clean fuel, choke & ignition on, and ... it doesn't start. This book is a must have for motorcycle enthusiasts who are budding mechanics and need to refer to anything related to the fuel systems, which invariably cause the most frustrating and hard to diagnose faults!! If like me you need to know a little more about motorcycle fuel systems (tuning, repair or maintenance) then this is the book for you, it explains so many intricate details about the entire fuel combustion process, specifically for motorcycle carbs/fuel injection. It's very recent (Y2K), unlike some other Motorcycle Carb Manuals. Technical data and details are presented clearly, there's lots of diagrams and tips for anything from the oldest, most basic carbs to complex electronic fuel injected systems. Review: Knowladge in details. - Very good.

About ten years ago I got a bike with a carb and this book is full of great advice and information
I was a hot roder in the 1980 and have forgotten a lot about carbs. About ten years ago I got a bike with a carb and this book is full of great advice and information. Yes it has more info on carbs then fuel injection but it does cover both and I have found this to be a really good reference and has helped me remember and understand how it works on bikes.

Techbook it is!
Starts with carb basics and ends with EFI systems. A little too deep, no make that a lot too deep, for the casual reader but it does cover all you ever wanted to know on the topic. Even so, I got a better understanding about how fuel systems work and why they got more complicated over time. Now if I can just put that new knowledge to work...

Good info but could be written better
Havent got too far in but so far an Informative book. 4 stars because some of the material is poorly written and a bit contradictory. one instance of this is the way the author describes fuel drop off and how it’s mitigated by richening the mixture. He then says in the next paragraph that engine heat warms the intake manifold and evaporates the liquid (fuel) pool which then rejoins the air/fuel stream and compensates for the drop off therefore eliminates the need to richen the mixture. It just seems as though the author left out something which Had me confused

Excellent book takes mystery out pf carbs
Well, it explains carbs really well. as to whether it takes out the mystery, I think they are still a little magical. Most people talk about cleaning the main jets or changing them. This book explains how important all those tiny air passages are. Those passages are probably ignored by most people and never properly cleaned - which would explain why they never get their bikes running properly. This is a very informative book. I am very glad I bought it.

Very good book. The illustrations are excellent. It is very technical though. If you remember or understand 50% of it, you will do fine with fuel systems.

If you need to know about bike fuel systems - this is the book! It details the science, the theory, and the practice and explains every last bit in clear english with pictures where appropriate. Several different carb designs are covered, starting from the basic principles, explaining the evolution which has given us the carbs our bikes are using today. It also covers fuel injection, which as an old school bike owner I found enlightening! Worth the money, especially if you maintain your own vehicle.
