Was going to get the Spotwash mini, as I only wanted a cleaner literally for spot cleaning, and not sizeable areas, until I saw this slightly bigger version on offer for just under a tenner more, and on offer at just under £89. You get some extra tools with this version too, and a pouch of cleaning solution to get you going. Bought mainly to properly clean the arms of the upholstery on the sofa, which were looking a bit grubby after several years of wear, but wanted something decent, after previous failed cheap skate attempts by me at cleaning them, using washing powder, washing up liquid and other so called ‘easy hacks’ to get them clean, none of which worked properly. It’s a very well designed and compact unit, which will be easy to store when not in use, as everything can be stored on the main unit. Nice long power lead and good length hose for easy use, and truly portable enough to easily carry to any part of the home, or for use in the car. Used it almost as soon as purchasing, which is easy and very simple to set up and use after a quick read of the instructions. What a difference! Very little scrubbing needed, and judging by the colour of the water in the waste tank (truly gross!) after using it, my previous efforts had obviously made no difference at removing the dirt. Completely clean, and just by doing the arms, made the sofa look so much better, and so much cleaner! Can be used for equally as well for accidental spills to suck up liquids, and so quick and easy to set up for emergency jobs should you spill red wine or other liquids on the carpet or upholstery. Its also small and light enough to use easily on the stairs if you need to. It could be argued that even at the offer price, it’s a lot to pay to clean small areas, but with this model, you could effectively clean fairly large areas too, although I wouldn’t want to use it to do a whole carpet as it would take ages, but this handy little unit is perfect for my needs. Looked at other models and brands, some of which were cheaper, and a lot were similar price or much more expensive, but VAX is a reputable brand, and when I saw this one on offer, my mind was made up, and can easily recommend if you’re after a well designed small carpet/upholstery cleaner. You also get an extended 2 year guarantee when registering online, which was easy and quick to do.

This is a non negotiable in our house with kids. It’s quick and easy to set up, perfect size for storage in a standard house with limited space, the cord length and hose length gives a good amount of range and it’s very effective on hard staining. The only drawbacks are the noise level as it is VERY loud, however overall I’d say still a good purchase.

Suction power = 10/10 The vacuum is incredibly strong and even after soaking the carpet and brushing it before running over it the unit did a fantastic job of pulling up i'd say about 95% of the moisture, I've used standing carpet extractors before which have left my carpet feeling damp and rather wet - this unit is miles better by comparison and is even cheaper, the carpet isn't bone dry but with how slightly moist it is it will dry up pretty quickly. Ease of installation and use = 10/10 Unboxing it is simple, you get a few bags with the spare brush and extractor heads, clip the head you want onto the handle, install the two hose clips to the lower front and back of the unit for keeping the hose tidy in storage, unclip the clean water tank and fill her up - be careful not to go the maximum as there is a breathing port just above the fill valve that will shoot a jet of water out if you encourage it to, plug her in clip the brush extractor attachment you want onto the handle and flip the switch and you're on your way. Self cleaning feature and cleaning routine = 10/10 Once you're done you remove the brush head and stick the handle into the self cleaning port at a downward angle and the unit cleans itself which is very simple and easy, removing the dirty water tank and unclipping the top half to empty it and give it a rinse is simple enough, there is a small screen under the dirty water tank you need to clean of any hairs or debris and it looks like you may need to remove the screen to remove the plate to remove it for a deep clean otherwise just picking off anything there is easy as a lot of the fine debris goes into the dirty water tank. I'm very impressed with how effective the unit is, it's nicely built and easy to use and does a great job at extracting the cleaning solution from a carpet, I can't wait to use it inside my car to deepclean the seats and floormats. The dirty water tank has a max volume marker which looks to be about 60% so it won't hold a full 1 litre of fluid as it will begin spilling out of the tank at the very bottom, so do be mindful to empty the tank, i'd say for every 1ltr (full) water tank, you can get two dirty water tanks out of it by going to the half way point at around 500ml's. I was shocked at how nasty the dirty water tank was and how much sediment seemed to have formed in the tank. After comparing more expensive options like Bissell units and a few other cheaper alternatives I'm extremely glad to have purchased this bit of equipment, I have no negative points to make about it as it's incredibly well designed. It's as loud as a hoover, it's not uncomfortably loud but it's not silent as it has what a 1000w or more motor pulling a vacuum, it's moving a lot of air so it's going to be noisy. over all 5 golden stars as this is a perfect tool and i would personally recommend it to anyone for cleaning both the house and car with.

I bought the Vax Duo Spot Wash mainly for valeting my car and I’m really impressed with it. It’s compact, easy to set up and has plenty of suction power to lift dirt and stains from seats, carpets and floor mats. I used it on some stubborn marks that I didn’t think would come out, and it left everything looking much fresher and cleaner. The separate clean and dirty water tanks make it simple to use, and the hose is long enough to comfortably reach around the car. It also dries surfaces surprisingly quickly, so you’re not left with soaking wet seats afterwards. Overall, it’s a great investment if you regularly clean your own vehicle and want professional-looking results without paying for a valet every time. Definitely worth the money and I’d happily recommend it.
