Defective During a Basic Fit Test—Then Charged a $100 Restocking Fee
Defective During a Basic Fit Test—Then Charged a $100 Restocking FeeI tested this PlayAction fighting belt at home by inserting an unloaded rod simply to check the fit. It was never taken on the boat, used while fishing, connected to a fish, or subjected to any significant force. During that basic test, the plastic surrounding the gimbal/mounting area lifted and separated. I immediately stopped using it because I did not consider it safe.I returned the belt as defective, but the seller withheld $100 from my refund as a “restocking fee.” Even more frustrating, the seller alleged that the damage could only have resulted from extreme force while fighting a fish. That allegation is completely untrue and directly contradicts how the belt was actually tested. The seller cited its quality-control procedures and maintained that the belt was not damaged when shipped, but that does not explain why it failed during a simple unloaded fit test. Instead of addressing a potential product defect, the seller blamed me and used that accusation to justify withholding part of my refund. My negative experience was not limited to the product failure—it was made substantially worse by how the return was handled. Based on both the defect and the seller’s response, I cannot recommend this product or seller.

High quality product A+
Best fight belt ever. Caught plenty of wahoo and Marlin on my last trip down to Baja. Highly recommend.

Not as picture showed
I received my plates today. The picture has the plate with a horizontal gimbal in place. Both of the ones I received have horizontal gimbals. There's not even holes for a horizontal gimbal to be placed. I'm not happy because I have a big tournament coming up next week and I don't have the plate that I ordered! Now I'm going to have to attempt to drill holes in the plastic to put the gimbal in horizontally. Other than that the backing to the plate is very high quality. Seems like it will be very comfortable reeling in a big fish on it.
