Great Little Reel Mower... especially for the Price!
I bought this to mow my new installed Bermuda turf... (It's hard to crank though... LOL!) it was extremely easy to assemble and the blades were sharp from the factory. I found it very addictive to mow with despite having an expensive Zero Turn mower and a new rotary mower. Obviously the noise level is much lower than a motorized mower and the gas savings are a plus. It is light weight which was perfect for my newly installed turf. I am mowing approximately 3200 sq ft around our house (I use my Zero Turn for the rest of my 3 acres). I have yet to have to sharpen the blades or to adjust the bed knife. IF it ever wears out, I would buy another one immediately!!! My wife is 5'2" and barely 100 lbs and she has NO PROBLEM mowing with it... it is easy to push. When I finish mowing, I WD-40 the bed knife and then run the blades over it by pulling it along my concrete drive to distribute the WD-40 on all the blades. Great mower for the price!!!

Reel Great Mower
Purchased this so the kids could mow a small section of the yard that's fenced off and I can't get the riding mower into. They love having a mower they can use themselves, and it does a great job cutting a variety of grasses (Bermuda, misc. local grasses, and even taller, thick St. Augustine) but it may take several passes in different directions for the most uniform final product. It is easy and smooth to push though, so that works out fine. Seems to stay sharp and when oiled regularly after use, and stays in great shape. The grass seems healthier and happier after being cut with this mower, and I love that the kids (11) can do it without my help. Great for use in a smaller space or yard - wouldn't want to cut a half-acre or more with it (at least not of our thick mix of grasses and weeds), but is fantastic for our lush extended chicken run. Would highly recommend for someone who wants a quiet, conventional mower that doesn't need fuel, will give you a healthier lawn, and will last a long time.

Clean Affordable Quiet Cut Once You Set it up
The EW 1715-16EW - 7 reel, 15.5" length, 5" diameter reel, 0.5"-2.5" cut height, 21 5/8"lb, 9 7/8" wheels, handlebar width 14 1/4", 1 wheel rotation to 4.2 reel rotations, plastic gears is an affordable, relatively light weight, mower w/easy to maneuver on the fly rear rollers. If cutting longer grass it doesn't wrap clippings around the driveshaft at the wheels. Thanks to the foresight of 1" long collars around the driveshaft at each wheel. The mower comes w/front end at the lowest setting. Originally I jacked up the back roller setting, but the cut was still too low for my purpose. I pulled the wheels and changed their setting from the lowest adjustment to the highest. On the roller I used the plastic hole closest to the roller combined w/middle metal hole on the frame. That left my cut a mite under 1.5". The reel only being 5" OD affords little room for tall grass. Mine was noisy though once I loosened the blades off of the bedknife, still cutting newspaper at slowest hand turned reel speed, it continued to cut well though at great reduction of noisy metallic clatter. The field of reel mowers w/more than five blades is very limited. Others available tend to have rear wheels and weigh a lot more. Neither of which I consider an advantage. 5/22/23-ETA: After a year I'm till chuggin' along. My 'old' 16" reel is a Husqvarna 5-blade. I have it set at high to plow through the weeds for the first couple of cuts. As time goes on/heats up and the grass catches up w/weeds I pull out the Earthwise 7-blade. Really nice cut and reel mowers cut grass that grows vertically very well. I prefer the seven blade for a lower cut I do not have a manicured lawn plus I have a lot of hardwood trees front & back. I pick up little sticks all the time. When the reel stops due to snagging a little stick I place my shoe on the reel and pull it back to dislodge the stick. Then I tilt the mower on one wheel & ease up a mite to clear the obstruction. It's nice to cut in quiet. This year I pulled out the Husky and had forgotten that as the season went on last year I dropped the height to the bottom. I was chewing up weeds & leaves to beat the band. The next day my lower back, thighs & calves were sore pushing against the extra resistance. No biggie it was the first cut. The following day[second day from cut] my left knee tendon was so sore I couldn't hardly put any weight on it when walking. Luckily I had a rubber-tipped wooden cane handy. The next two weeks I spent a lot of time convalescing on the couch. Another two weeks after that before cutting grass/weed combo in moderation. If you're older I recommend starting at a higher height, especially early w/weeds prevalent and/or taller grass, then as the summer heats up/weeds die out lower to whatever level you desire. Because I'm not attempting to scalp my lawn I roll over a lot of sticks/what-not that helps keep obstructions to the minimum whilst extending the good edge on the blades.

1715-16EW 16" 7-blade - superior to my Fiskars 18" reel max at less than half the price
I really wanted to do a review on the Earthwise 1715-16EW 7-blade push reel mower because it works so well. I have been mowing this year with the Fiskars 18 inch stay sharp max reel mower, and I have had some problems with it. The way the front wheels are so far in front of the cutting bed with the rear wheels so far behind it can make it an issue when mowing on even a gentle hill; the bed drags on the ground and the mower scalps. I also had a problem with any little debris in the yard catching in the reel and stopping the mower. When I purchased the sharpening kit, the first time I received a kit without a crank handle. Had to go through the return process and finally received the full kit. But then when I went to remove the small gear on the reel shaft, I torqued my allen wrench 90* trying to break loose the set screw before the bolt hole finally stripped out. Don't know if they loc-tited the screw or if it was installed with an impact wrench at too high a torque setting. I ended up having to drill/tap the opposite end of the shaft for a 10mm bolt so I could attach a nut driver to backlap and resharpen the "non-contact" blades. Overall the Fiskars is not a bad machine, but for the price it has serious drawbacks. This Earthwise 7-blade mower is superior to the Fiskars at less than half the price (I paid $87 for it - was on sale - suh-weet deal). Took me about 10 minutes to attach the handles and set the height for my yard (I mow at 1.5") and I was out and mowing. The reel turns much faster for the same walking pace than the Fiskars reel and that and the fact that it has 7 blades made mowing today a single-pass effort where previously I would have to pass over the same lane 2x with the Fiskars. The rollers on the back also help keep the Earthwise level when mowing uneven areas as well as far superior when overhanging the landscape edging. Because the cutting bed is centered under the wheels, I do not have any problem with the bed contacting the ground at any location in my yard, which was definitely not the case with the Fiskars. Time will tell if this mower is long-term reliable, but the reel and the bed look and feel well-made, the handles are sturdy and the 10" wheels had no problem with slipping (which I was originally a bit worried about). The only minor gripe I would have is that I would prefer the handles be slightly wider and straight vs angled, but I can rig up something for my comfort very easily (perhaps some bicycle bar-ends or some such thing). I have a residential yard and it takes me about 30 minutes to push mow. It is not a high level of exertion, just a little push with a walk. I was worried about this purchase based on other reviews, but I am pleased that I own this mower and also that it works better than the more expensive one I previously purchased. Anyone want to buy my old Fiskars? lol.

Cuts short, easy to use and perfect for small lawns
Super sharp, cuts easily. A bit difficult to put together but super simple. Make sure you spray soap and water into the foam handles before you put them on otherwise they WONT go on. Cut your grass short before you start using this thing too.

Not for people who don't take care of their lawn
I have been intrigued by reel mowing for the past couple of years as I've always wanted to get my lawn looking like a golf course fairway. By the way, if that's what you're looking for, reel mowing is the way to go. Before I bought this product I naturally read reviews on it and it seemed all the bad reviews were from people complaining that it doesn't cut their weeds. I have to say, if you don't take care of your lawn, reel mowing is not for you. Now, for those of you who are serious about having a great looking lawn, this mower is great for an entry level person to reel mowing. First, if you're looking to get some exercise while mowing, you'll definitely get it here. I have about 3,400 sqft combined front/back and I had to stop to take a break a few times. As far as the cut, I could definitely tell a difference between the quality of the cut compared to my rotary mower although there was one little flaw which I'll explain in a bit. I gave this mower 3 stars for a few reasons. First, this particular mower only goes to 1" at it's lowest setting. For a lot of people, that's probably satisfactory but I was really hoping to get my grass down to 0.5" or 0.75". If you're wanting to get the cut lower, I would recommend getting the Earthwise 18" 7-blade manual reel as that can cut as low as 0.5". Second, since this is a manual reel mower and it only has 5 blades, I did have some issues with "wash boarding" on the thicker parts of my lawn. This is basically a wavy pattern you can see across your grass due to the mower "hopping" as you're pushing it and because the reel isn't spinning fast enough. Third, and probably the most annoying, is that any debris you have in your lawn will stop this mower dead in it's tracks. I always do my best to clear my lawn of sticks and mulch before I start mowing but it doesn't take much to jam this thing. I found myself pushing the mower at a good pace and then feeling like I hit a brick wall all of a sudden. I will say though, I definitely got the reel mower addiction after buying this and recently went all in and bought a motorized reel mower. I keep my Earthwise as an emergency back up just in case I get a lot of rain and need something light that won't cause ruts in my yard. However, I may end up selling this one and pick up the 18" 7-blade for my back up.

Can’t adjust the height
I am furious, the adjustment screw is so tight regardless what I do I can’t get it loose to move it! It needs to be lowered. I wouldn’t recommend this simply because nothing should be this hard to do!

Great reel. Not as low as I want
Works great, it only goes down to 1 inch not lower than that.

Reel lawn mover
Works great. Works best on short grass as per all reel mowers so you are required to cut you grass more often. They do not work well on long grass. Adjustable with multiple blades. Bought with sharpening tool. Easy and safe for my son to use and cuts grass clean where rotary blades shred/fry grass ends. I love it for the small amount of grass I have in my front yard and use my gas mower for my back yard.

Buen producto, pero...
Me hubiera gustado que los plásticos de las llantas estubieran más fuertes. Llevo un mes y medio usándola, espero dure mucho tiempo.

Quality
Really good quality. Very sturdy and well made. Thought it would be heavy to push but it's super easy and cuts really well. Saw reviews it was hard to lower the blade but didn't have any issues with it. Excellent product.

Trotzdem: Absolute Empfehlung!
