Are the posts nickel free?

Yes, the posts are made of 925 sterling silver with 14k gold plated.

No. I have had them for a couple months now and they are in perfect condition. Also I live on a tropical island called Roatan off the coast of HOnduras so everything that is not Gold or real silver gets ugly and tarnished quick due to the salt. But these are made very good and durable. Definitely recommended 100%.
