Yes, the OGO™ Compost Toilet works on a 12V system. Most who are in an off-grid environment choose to hard wire directly to a deep cell battery or existing solar system. The continuous running fan is going to pull an average of 0.48 amp per day and the motor will pull approximately 5 amps for the 45-second cycle time.

Do you have to vent it?

Not always. It really depends on your individual circumstances. Some do not vent and typically use charcoal filters for the earthy smell associated with the compost medium. Take into consideration airflow, moisture, and area when venting.

Can you use an inverter to power the OGO?

Yes you could but would need a power adapter to drop down to 12V. The toilet is only 12V so you can either hook direct to DC voltage or use a power adapter to connect to 110V.

How and where to dispose solids safely and legally?

Every location does have different regulations. We encourage customers to read up on their local laws. Typically it is safe to empty our solids bins into a long term compost bin or bagging it and throwing it away in a traditional dumpster.
