Anyone figure out a way to not need to sit on the hand tool to push this thing into the hole?

A lot of good suggestions I see here. 
I never liked using the reamer tool, but in my old age I have used it, with no problems.
We have used these since the 70's and when Steel Belted Radials took over, plugging a tire got a bit harder at first. 
The suggestion to follow the EXACT angle of the puncture is a dead-on must.
The best way to insert the plug, is to know that the STEEL BELTS run radial (across the tread). So, insert the plug so that the opening in the end of the plug tool will not snag on the steel belts. Look at your plug tool tip, and insert it with the slit opening going around the tire. It's hard to put into words, but just know all those steel belts run bead to bead.
You can turn the tool so that it won't catch a steel wire.
Just think about it and it will make sense.
The only other thing I do, that no one else does, is light the portion of the plug that remains on the outside of the tire on fire. It melts and makes the plug just disappear. It was more for show for the customer as I would Vulcanize the repair. 
Don’t forget to blow it out before you catch everything on fire 😊

Question 2

I have a kit with the tools made by Slime. Am I correct in assuming these plugs will work with the Slime insertion tool? Not too thick?

I don't have a slime tool. These should work but they are very hard to install in tool anyway. They are thicker than typical black seals. The safety seals are better and last longer. I highly recommend safety seals I've been using them for 20 yrs

Question for the seller. I recently received these and all the lot/batch numbers have been removed. Are these factory rejects? Counterfeit? Stolen?

The lot numbers should be present in blue ink on one side of the backing paper. It is not present on any other portions of the packaging
