From buying calls and puts to iron butterflies and condors, this book explains the strategies of taming the complexities of options. It includes a chapter on options and taxes; and is intended for options traders. Review: Option Strategies Galore - This book contains every option strategy you will ever need. While you can choose the specific options to trade based on current market volume and volatility, this book provides the strategies to use. All the basic kinds of options are explained in the book, covered calls and puts, uncovered calls and naked puts. You also can learn about all the different ways to combine them into spreads, butterflies, condors, straddles, strangles, calendars, diagonals, strips, straps, guts, ratio backspreads, spreads, collars, synthetics, combos, and boxes. Did the author miss anything? He also goes into how most strategies can be used from the long side or short side, and which strategy is best for different market environments. The book is set up great for reference purposes. You can find strategies from the categories of income, vertical spreads, volatility, sideways markets, leveraged strategies, and synthetic strategies. You can also look at strategies by proficiency. The book shows which strategies are for novices, intermediates, advanced and experts. The author also explains the risk and rewards of the different strategies whether the risk or reward side is capped or uncapped. While I believe risk is rarely uncapped because you can usually just exit a position that has hit your maximum stop or go to cash if the market becomes to volatile or a crises is starting. The strategies are also divided by the purpose of the strategy, income or capital gain. The back appendix contains a quick reference table on all the option strategies with visual pictures of what they look like. Finally you get a brief explanation on how option gains and losses are taxed at the end of the book. This book should be the first book a new option trader buys after they fully understand the option Greeks, and the basics of options and how they relate to their underlying stock. It is THE book to have in your option trading library for quick reference. You do not need this book if you are completely familiar with all 60 option trading strategies, or if you just simply trade options for capital gains using them in place of stocks. This book is for those who want to profit from the nature of options, their ability to leverage bets in two directions at once, how the time premium deteriorates in the last month to expiration so option sellers profit, or how to create synthetic positions that mimic stocks by selling a put and using that money to buy an option. I found the book incredibly educating and fascinating. I read it from cover to cover. If you read this book you will have a very good understanding of option strategies and how and when to use them. Review: The Bible of Options Strategies: The Definitive Guide for Practical Trading Strategies - This is the sixth book I have read on Options Strategies and by far it is the best I have read. Guy walks you through the construction an unraveling of strategies in a down to earth approach. First he explains how to build your strategies from a single option trade, and then to more complex strategies one leg at a time; to improve profits and reduce costs. He then explains how to monitor the strategy and best of all how to exit the strategy when it is doing well, and if not so good. I love his continual reminders of "don't be greedy". He does a very nice job explaining which strikes to pick for the strategy and why. Guy does a great job explaining the Greeks and how each Greek affects each strategy. This book is an absolute keeper for any options library.

The Bible of Options Strategies: The Definitive Guide for Practical Trading Strategies
This is the sixth book I have read on Options Strategies and by far it is the best I have read. Guy walks you through the construction an unraveling of strategies in a down to earth approach. good book
I am a pretty experienced stock trader but I must admit trading options is much more challenging. The good news is once you start understanding options you won't want to trade stocks again. This a very well structured book, a bit repetitive here and there but overall I liked it. Despite the title I won't consider this book the "Bible" of options, if you really want a "Bible" I would recommend "Options as a Strategic Investment" by McMillan. However, this the best book to start learning options. It gives you the basics, it explains all the strategies out there and in which conditions you should use them.

A Must for Those Trading Options often
Guy Cohen in every book of his I have read presents the subject in a clear manner easy to learn. This book includes every trading/investing trading strategies I know and then some. He explains the time frame, the rational for its use, the mechanics of the strategy so that the reader is able to order it correctly from his/her broker, the when to use the strategy. He also suggests the level of expertise required for the strategy in question and the greeks and P/L charts at various times before expiration. All in all a very good book for those into options

the info is free online but useful for newbie
most successful option investors focus on just a couple strategies so not sure you need to know all these but i guess its good for quick reference. although there are sites now online from most brokers that give you this info free about the various strategies.

Must-have survival knowledge in the devil's lair
You will be ripped to shreds and then some if you don't have the knowledge contained in this book. Use this as a quick reference at your fingertips, or just thoroughly arm yourself with the right strategies to survive in one of the most dangerous games known to mankind...the financial markets. If I read this as a new trader many years ago, my wealth would be completely different today. It's worth its weight in gold if you truly wish to master options! The "WHY" of being conservative with leverage comes with experience and the intermediate-expert sections of this book reveal the techniques to use, that many will never have the opportunity to implement with great confidence. Sincere gratitude to Guy Cohen for writing this comprehensive guide. I wish I had a book like this 15 years ago because I'd literally be saved from what NOT to do. =) Buy it, Learn, Trade like a pro. Your portfolio will thank you every year, once you absorb the concepts and apply them. i.e. Why do straight calls and puts (novice) when you can do spreads (pro)? Why buy stocks retail (novice) when you can buy wholesale by selling naked puts for position entry, then selling covered calls once you own the stock to reduce your cost further (pro)? Why do what the majority is doing (novice) when you can be selling to them 1,000s% later in a growth superstock you found before them, all the while getting income from options (if available) every month (pro)? This is what I mean by "Trade like a pro" after reading this book for the trading tools. The mindset is completely different than a novice who knows very little. By little I mean <20 of the strategies discussed in the (55+ strategies) book can be talked about intelligently to a friend.

Typos? We don't need no stinkin' typos.
I bought this book for the princely sum of about $35 after reading parts of it in a library and using some of the ideas even before I bought the book. I am a reasonably experienced (but conservative) option trader who now executes maybe 100 to 200 options trades a year and have traded options for about 15 years. I found this book to be in an amazingly simple format with very concise descriptions of option strategies that have been so arcanely described in other works that I am really impressed. I also added a couple of the described strategies to my repertoire which (whether through luck or experience or combination), returned about 50 times the cost of the book in the first month of trading alone. And much more since. However, anyone who trades options should really understand the risks of option trading. Thankfully, this guide tells you which types of strategies have unlimited loss potential. Unfortunately and necessarily, it is up to the reader to exercise good judgment, understand the markets in general and do basic research in connection with evaluating trades. Maybe because I am a speed reader I didn't note typos or editing errors that affected my evaluation of this tome.
