Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic 5W-20 Motor Oil, 5-Quart

The oil shipped quickly and after looking around local big name stores and auto goods stores, amazon actually had this at the lowest price for this size can. I have used penzoil platinum for years in a Subaru Impreza and now a Ford Fusion with great results. I cannot attest to the claims of increased horsepower or MPGs as some reviewers have (I am somewhat suspicious of this) but I can say that upon changing oil, this oil appears lighter in color than other competing brands that I have used which appear almost black after all starting out with a similar light color that is close to honey color. The more color change that an oil experiences in my estimation means more burning and contaminants from engine wear that obviously weren't sufficiently protected by lubricating engine oil. To add to the deal, Penzoil is running a rebate right now running through December of 2016 that amounts to $2 off per quart or $10 for this. That makes this oil around $12-$14 per container and that is a steal!

Purchased this for my CRV. I usually buy Mobil 1 products but after looking at reviews - and cost - I decided to try out this Penzoil platinum oil. Seemed to be good quality - I guess I'll be a better judge at the next oil change but I plan on sticking with this brand.

When I switched my 2013 Ram 5.7 to synthetic oil I started with another brand. I didn't notice much of a difference and the oil life meter said I was due for a change at 3700 miles. I decided to try this and am so glad I did. When I started the truck after changing the oil it actually sounded like it was running easier. I put just under 9000 miles on it and my old 3000 mile change mentality won out and I changed the oil today. According to the truck I had 15% of oil life left. The oil from the truck looks fine. I'm not upset I changed it early because it gives me peace of mind. Now I'll be comfortable going 10,000 miles or so before changing. Synthetic oil is more expensive than conventional but it protects the engine better and if you get 10,000 miles between changes that's a big savings if you used to change around 3000 miles with conventional. That's also 2 less times sliding under your vehicle or taking it somewhere to be changed.

After going over COPIOUS amount of excellent and glowing reviews on Amazon, I decided to take advantage of the rebate to try out the synthetic oil for myself. Having never tried synthetic oils before I was excited to see how my Acura TSX would take to the oil. IT purrs and runs smoothly after it tasted the elixir of life. But to be fair, my TSX has always been running smoothly prior to the Pennzoil synthetic oil as I am meticulous when it comes to vehicle maintenance. Hopefully, with this oil, I can go through longer intervals -- probably 6 months to a year before I need to change my oil again. Yes thats the sad part. I look forward to doing oil changes and now, I get to do less before of this excellent oil. What an oxymoron... Update 03/28/17: WHY THE HELL DID OIL JUMP TO $35.96 AS OF THIS DATE? I BOUGHT IT FOR 22.92 OR SOMETHING 4 MONTHS AGO.

This is great motor oil. I am not sure of any technical way to determine if motor oil is better than others, but I consider it better based on how long my truck maintains a certain average MPG. I drive the exact same commute daily and it is easy to track my mileage. My mileage in my Honda Ridgeline is right on 20MPG after a fresh oil change with any synthetic. I have used Royal Purple, Castrol, and Mobil 1 and they maintain close to 20 MPG for 3000-4000 miles, then drop to about 18MPG until I change the oil at about 6500 miles (when my reminder comes on in my truck). When I use this oil, it will maintain right about 20MPG until about 1000 miles before I change the oil (when the maintenance-minder says 20% life left). I also like that this is made from natural gas in the US. I highly recommend this oil and the paired oil filter.
