It is perfect for collecting my core snow samples.
It has a wide blade, it is heavy duty metal and very sturdy, and has a wooden handle. It slides easily under my snow sample, it chops away ice, it keeps the snow sample from falling out, and if I use a bare hand, it doesn't stick to my skin in below zero weather.
