This is not bad. It isn't fresh yogurt either, of course. I mixed about cup of powder with 12 ounces evaporated milk and 10 ounces of water. I shook the mixture in a 32-ounce bottle. This was refrigerated overnight. The consistency was in the range that yogurt should be, and possibly too liquid. There is a strong tangy flavor that I can only attribute to the Greek style. I will probably reorder this as plain yogurt and not the Greek. I ate it plain and with honey. The honey didn't fit with the tanginess, and I liked it better plain. I have now tried the plain yogurt flavor too. It is less tangy but more chalk like in texture. It does taste better with honey. I mixed about a cup of yogurt powder with 12 ounces of evaporated milk and 12 of ounces of water. The liquids were heated prior to adding the powder. The mixture was refrigerated overnight. This was the consistency of a yogurt drink. The powder did not easily dissolve when shaken and I used a spoon to break up clumps. I have also tried the suggested 1 to 1 mixture. It thickens to a creamy texture that is thick like ricotta cheese. It responds well to thinning with water. The taste is subpar and not like yogurt at all. It tastes burnt. My suggestion of 1 part yogurt powder, 1 part water, and one-part evaporated milk is my preferred mixture.

I purchased this to try out for a camping trip. Yeah NO! Horrible stuff. Maybe if baking with it, it might be tolerable. But I won’t even use it for that. I made a batch and refrigerated it overnight, (this wasn’t suggested on the package, because there was absolutely no directions on the package except for some kind of fruit dip.). The chalky taste was horrible and the texture was just as bad. Very disappointed, but glad I only purchased the smallest available size.

Greek yogurt powder adds a good tart flavor when added to smoothies, cake, muffin and quick bread batter, frosting, sauces, dips, dressings and even marinades. The flavor is lightly tart and will serve as a good base whether sweetened or savory. The convenience factor is a big plus to be able to use a shelf-stable ingredient instead of one that requires refrigeration. Additionally for allergen concerns the powder is made in a gluten and nut-free facility although it is repackaged in a facility that packages, fish, dairy and egg products. A tablespoon from the 1 1/2 pound re-sealable pouch has 35 calories, no fat, 5 grams carbohydrates, 5 grams sugar (none added) and 3 grams protein. The product has no cholesterol and sodium is very low at 2 percent of daily value. Ingredients are straightforward--non-fat milk solids, culture, lactic acid and natural flavors. The powder dissolves easily although I did add liquid gradually and no lumps formed. To estimate shelf-life at the time of this review in April 2022 the Best By date is 23 months in the future but dates will vary.

I wanted this yogurt powder to have on hand for a wide variety of recipes. There are several recipes from yogurt whipped cream to adding it to baby food. There’s a really scrumptious sounding recipe on the back of the pouch for a Greek Yogurt Fruit Dip. I’ll probably be trying that out at some point in time. The yogurt powder itself is packaged in a Mylar-like, resealable bag to ensure freshness. This is packaged in a Dedicated GF Nut Free Facility, however, there are some allergy warnings. I do like the nut-free aspect of this product. The price of the yogurt powder is a bit steep at around $26 for this pouch. Very pleased to have this on hand for my baking.
