Worth it for picky cats.
So I bought the ElizaSoft Recovery Collar after trying 3 other collars for my cat. That's right three. The first collar I tried was the generic plastic ones they sell at Petsmart, which was entirely too long for my 7 pound cat. He also was able to get the collar off in under a minute after putting it on. He starting banging his head on the floor. It was hilarious, but frustrating.A similar occurrence happened with the second collar that I tried, which I purchased from the vet's office. My veterinarian suggested purchasing a soft collar online, a solution which greatly displeased me seeing I already had spent money on worthless and destroyed plastic collars.I ordered two separate soft collars. This one is the clear winner. While it is soft, the material is thick so it takes some time to shred through. The part of the collar that is directly touching the cat seems to be made out of a cotton material that he has no problem wearing. In fact, this is the only collar my cat did not try to immediately remove from his body.He did manage to scratch through the collar in about a week, but honestly, I'll take a week of wear over a minute. The price is affordable, so I recently purchased additional collars for when longer term wear is needed. If you are looking for something to last, this isn't for your pet. BUT if you are looking for something that won't piss the hell out of your pet and they might be willing to wear for some time, I highly recommend this collar.

Wish I'd known about these sooner!
I don't write many reviews but had leave one for this product. After a week in a hard plastic collar I began using one of these soft collars for my blind 7 month old kitten. The hard collar was difficult because it prevented her from using her whiskers to navigate and I think it also affected her hearing. She was bumping into things all the time and just generally a pathetic spectacle. Because this collar is soft it acts almost as an extension of her whiskers -- when she encounters an obstacle it gets pushed in, hits her whiskers and guides her along. It's almost like she's not wearing anything at all while still being effective at preventing her from scratching.Another nice feature is being able to fold it back while eating rather than taking the collar off. This would be especially handy for animals who run when they see the collar. Never had that problem with my blind kitten ;) but it's still handy because that means I don't leave it off for too long allowing her to scratch herself. The only minor drawback -- so minor that I won't even ding a star -- is that it's not as easy to clean as a plastic collar and probably won't last as long. But I'm ordering another right now to have on hand so I can put a clean one on when I wash the dirty one.I wasn't sure if the x-small would be the right size for her. With the hard plastic collar, size 8 was too shallow and size 12 was too deep. But the x-small 4in fits her perfectly. Keep in mind she has an abnormally small head for her age -- an adult cat would probably need the next size up. If you're not sure, order both and give the one that doesn't fit to your local animal rescue group :)

does the trick
ordered this for my about half grown cat. the collar came very fast and was nicer then i was thinking it would be. the pros are that it works great keep him from licking and scratching his face. the collar is of a soft material and there would have been many times he would have gotten stuck or ran into a wall if it was a hard plastic one. the cons well not really cons as there not that big of a deal are the same material that make it nice and the draw string which is kind of nice in a way. the material is nice because its durable but whatever its made out of makes a god awful sound whenever the cat tries to lick not a huge deal but very annoying. the draw string is nice because its very easily adjustable but if the collar was to get stuck on something when i was at work i would be a little worried he might get choked out or something but thankfully my roommate works opposite hours. all in all i would recommend this collar to anyone. my cat was pissed at first but now after a few days he dont mind it at all and it does what its made to do. was gonna give it five stars but my cats sitting behind me licking the collar as i write this and its pretty annoying.

Most comfortable for your pet
I bought this for my cat who is about 8.5 pounds. She had surgery near her ear, and two teeth removed. I'm very happy with it. A few years ago I bought a hard e-collar and it was very cumbersome and heavy for my cat. I do not recommend those for felines. This one works so much better and is not nearly as intrusive for your pet.My cat has worn this for a week solid now, and has one more week to go. Regarding durability, it is probably only good for one, two-week use. My cat licks it, scratches it, and of course tries to remove it. In the process, it is becoming more frayed and beaten up, but it is holding up. I won't need it after one more week, so don't mind its durability level. If my cat requires another surgery in the future I will buy another one since it is very reasonably priced. I bought the 4-inch size for my cat. I wouldn't want the larger one for a 9 pound pet. The only improvement that I could recommend to the product maker is to have a cinching slider to tighten the collar. Currently you must tie the string much as you would your shoe. It works, but could be improved. No pet likes to wear an e-collar. However given all the available choices I feel that this one will bother your pet the least.
