I bought this for a smaller condenser (Lewitt 440 Pure) which is lighter weight than many mics. It really has taken about 7-9 weeks for that mic arm to "break-in". What I mean is the arm(s) would float downward due to the weight of the mic. I cranked on those tension wheels pretty tightly and it still would slowly float down. Sometimes the base arm would float down and other times it was the extension arm. It took some manuevering to get it to stay in one place. It seems built really well but if they could make this product work great out of the box, I would have for sure given 5 stars. But even now, 7 weeks later, I still have to crank on those tension wheels very hard. Which is fine but when you need to adjust it up or down, those joints are tight. Which makes manuevering the arm(s) cumbersome because you actually have to use both hands and "force" it where you want it. If you need to make adjustments often (podcasters, DJ's), it will frustrate you. If you are like me, using it in a music studio booth, there are only a few times throughout the day I need to adjust it for vocals or instruments dpending on if one is standing or sitting. Update: this arm just took some time to break in. It actually works very, very well. Stays in position and the tension does not need to be cranked so hard now. Just note that it'll take time but I made a great choice with this one. 👌

I bought several boom arms on Amazon to try out, and this was my favorite. I bought the Donner blue-compass style one, this one, an Innogear (Rode PSA style), and a Gator 3000 (similar to this & blue compass also). I tested this one to support at least 3.1 lb at full horizontal extension without drooping (it probably reaches 3.5 lb, but I had no need so I didn't test). It does require tightening the spring in the base to hold heavy weights at full extension, but it holds heavy weights just fine when more vertical. The base on this is very sturdy and grippy, the sturdiest of all the boom arms I tried. It's also pretty low profile in thickness (no knobs sticking out like most), and it had the most range of motion on the bottom joint, middle joint, and plenty of range on the last joint (the Innogear had the most range here, but it struggled to maintain weight on that joint & seemed less sturdy for regular rotational movement). The headphone hook on it is flexible plastic.. you could cut it off if you wanted, but I repurposed it to hold some extra cables that kept getting in my way (but I needed nearby occassionally). Honestly, I would call this a name-brand stand, especially when compared to the others I tried. It had the same quality as Gator, but more range of motion and a better mount. If I could change anything about this stand, it'd just be to reduce the height of the base before the first joint... there's about 5" of excess vertical space at the base, but this may be part of what makes it so sturdy.

I really like the way The Bietrun boom on my microphone arm looks. It looks very sturdy and it is very sturdy! The bass it connects to your desk is very solid very well-made and I love the fact that it’s wide enough to put on any size desk. I was a little disappointed in the headphone holder because it’s made out of plastic it was kind of thin. I did like the fact that you could turn the headphone holder and position where you wanted it. The issues I had with The mic stand or boom arm, is I had to really tighten down the knobs on the different joints to actually make it stable. And I also had to use underneath the bottom of the arm there is a tension screw. Which works great but again the microphone arm kept rising up.The microphone that I mounted on this is a FiFine Mic. which is a lot lighter than the microphones they recommend like the blue yeti etc. again it does look really good its functionality is OK. I ended up purchasing the Toner 18 inch T 30 and compared the two. Again the Bietrun mic stand or boom arm is really nice but you really have to fuss with it to get it to sit where you want it to sit without having it rise up. Also it doesn’t have much flexibility as far as being able to move it out of the way other than swinging it back-and-forth. I gave it four stars because it looks great. But I really wasn’t after looks as much as functionality….. OK looks are definitely something that you take into consideration in a recording studio.lol😂

EDIT: My original arm had to have been damaged in shipping leading to my initial bad feeling. The seller reached out and replaced the original with a new one (which works perfect). They were very communicative and cared about me liking the product. I am 100% happy to report the new arm does hold the shure sm7b easily. Compared to my rode psa1 I'm also happy to report it is identical in range of motion while having a taller standing height making it easier to use over monitors or to their side. After setting it up with a Shure SM7b I noticed it would fall at the joint closer to the base while the top half stayed at its set angle. The only solution was turning the dials on the sides of each joint— doing this makes the arm stay in place as desired, but it then becomes impossible to move the arm around without using enough force to bend the arms base plate which seems terrible for a lot of desk materials. Overall this makes it hard to love since it DOES keep your mic in place, but doing so no better than a mic stand. I needed an arm I could move around at will and this locking mechanism style was not it. If the base felt sturdier moving it, I would change this to five stars but I don’t know if I got a defective unit or what.

Thought this would be a great mic boom to replace my other under performing boom. It is quite substantial and will definitely hold my blue yeti better; however, upon setting it up, it leans quite a bit to the right and there is no way to fix it in order to make it straight up and down. Due to not being straight, I could not place it where I wanted because it bumped against my monitor to the right. So, I had to place it behind a monitor and bring it over the top right edge. Not sure the picture does it justice as for showing it is not straight. I took a chance hoping I would not have the same leaning issue others mention but no luck. Would not recommend.

EDIT: After I posted my review the company reached out to me and offered me a replacement, which I accepted but still had the same issue, after which they gave me a full refund without having to return the product. So, I will say even though I still don't think the mic holder is easy to use, I am updating the review to 5 stars because of the good customer service. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I wanted a sturdy mic arm that I could keep on my desk and move away when I'm not using it. This is sturdy, but it will not easily move away. It is so hard to adjust the arm angles because of the constant tension - you have to really force it to bend, and then it just wants to snap back in place. There are knobs you turn to lock the angle in place but you have to tighten them so hard to keep it locked in place again because of the constant tension in the arm. I do like that it has the recessed cord holder, and it looks nice. It would work better for someone that won't need to ever adjust the arm or move it out of your face while you're at your desk.

So I have had this boom arm about a month now and I'm only somewhat happy with it. I use a Samson Q9U, 2.13lbs. This is a chunky mic, so I was looking for an arm that had a high weight capacity. While yes it can hold the mic, you have to really torque down on the tension areas. If you bump the arm at all, except your mic to start to droop. Now you have to untighted the arms that you have tighten to hell and back. Reset the mic position, and hope you have the finger strength to tighten it even more so it won't move. I am willing to bet if you have a lighter mic this will do a wonderful job. But if you have a mic that has some heft to it. Look elsewhere EDIT: I have had this 3 months and the bottom tightening joint has completely given out. You tighten the screw they recommend to hold a heavy mic, and tighten down the joint. You STILL will have your mic droop. Do not waste your money on this and just get a RODE PSA-1

Title says it all. This is the best tube mic arm that you will find for around $50. Exceeded my expectations. Compared to the cheap mic arm that I had from the old Newer USB mic that I bought as an emergency replacement for a family member a few years back, this thing was like upgrading to a executive suite from coach. The build on this arm is very strong and positions itself in almost anyway that I want it to without a struggle. The ease of movement makes this thing a pleasure to use and the lenght is alot longer than I expected. I almost get 40" to the tip of my condeser mic and that's with a bend in the arm to allow me to see my right 3rd monitor easily. If your looking for an affordable but strong and higher end mic arm, then look no further. As a content creator the last thing I want is a loud or squeaky mic arm that's going to make noise or get in the way while I am live streaming and this thing meets those standards amazingly. I seen plenty of reviews that gave good info about this mic arm but I really wasn't sure how someone like myself would feel about it and let me just say that I am glad I took that chance on it. Grab one today, as I feel you won't regret the decision. I decided to take a step up from the many cheaper mic arms because of the excellent reviews. I'm glad I did. This thing is solid. It is heavy and feels a better quality than what I imagine the cheaper ones are. The single arm (rather than the several pivoting struts in each section of the cheaper models) looks much more professional. I used this with a Blue Yeti Mic (the regular size, not the nano) and it fits well with no movement on the arm even when fully extended. As said in other reviews, the spring is pretty strong so be sure to put on your microphone before worrying about it being too strong. I'd recommend spending the extra money for this one.
