how long do you cool before you remove the cookies from the pan?

I put a plate over the shortbread pan as soon as I get it out of the oven, flip it over and tap it on a cutting board. The cookies fall out. Cut them into squares while they are still hot. Then let them cool.

could someone who has a sure recipe for getting a good imprint please share it? I dont want to use the recipe that comes with the pan.

I used the recipe that came with the pan. So, I don't know what to tell you except to use a real shortbread recipe that makes a dense cookie with a fine crumb. That is what will give you the kind of detailed imprint you want. Regarding technique, I use the bottom of a measuring cup to push the dough firmly into the pan. It ensures that all the impressions are filled. hope this helps.
