Park Tool CM-25 Professional Chain Scrubber Tool, Blue | Cleaner

I've gone thru a few plastic chain cleaners ($20~30) in my time. After some quick math it turns out I should have just saved myself some money and just gotten this METAL version first. Yes it is expensive but it will not break, and you can replace the brushes if needed. No you cant see thru it, but even with heavy use it should last the rest of my life.

Though quite a bit more expensive, I like this model over the plastic version. It looks much more durable and I expect it to last longer. Should have bought it in the first place.

The handle falls off. This keeps catching me off-guard, perhaps at some point I'll actually pick it up with the handle and that won't continue - but the handle is not secured with any degree of friction fit. Otherwise this is absolutely worth the money over the plastic ones. Not sure it'll make any of us any faster, but does a nice job on the chains!

This is shipped in a couple pieces, which assemble quickly and easily (they provide the Allen wrench). This is a chunk of metal, so it should last for years, even if used in a shop environment. It does clean the chain pretty well, though it does not remove all the grime from the open part of the links. Be aware that it will splatter the area underneath the chain, so take proper precautions so you don't have stained floors or surroundings. This also does not clean the front or rear cogs (it is a CHAIN cleaner), nor the derailleur, so you will have to clean those by hand. Still it makes the chain cleaning job easier. Also, rather than buying the Park chain cleaner solution, you can use a water and detergent solution (Dawn works GREAT) and save a lot of money.

This product is as good or better than described. My chain was clean after 1-2 passes. I am compulsive about my chain and my old plastic system took 6 or 7 passes at 50 repetitions/revolutions each time to have the solution mostly clean, albeit not perfect. The residual solution would still be slightly dirty. The park professional chain cleaner after 1-2 pass (and only 30 reps) the chain looked brand new and the residual solution clean. An additional rinse showed NO dirt. Ok, its more expensive than a comparable plastic product but its worth it. You will never replace this, no plastic pollution in the trash dump, and everything internally is easily replaceable. You cant go wrong with this product. I did not use their(Park Tools) dummy hub as it does not fit disc brake bikes.1/15/2020-(UPDATE) My opinion has not changed since my original review. This tool is EXCELLENT. I love cleaning my chain. Its is easy, and cleanup much more reasonable. The only compliant I have is I wish they would include some extra cloth and foam inserts that go into the head of the unit. They can fall out when you open the device and you have to be careful or you will lose them. It would be nice to have extra. I love this tool. You cannot go wrong, and if you love a clean chain, you will love this. Also, I changed my chain recently(campy) after 6657 miles. Clearly riding on a clean chain contributed to the long life of the chain.

If you are relatively new to bike cleaning, I want to suggest you buy this product, particularly if you are already using a plastic version of this product. Buy it once and be done with it. All the internal parts are replaceable. Over time you will save a bunch of money and you will prefer working with a more durable product.

I had the cheaper Park Tool chain clearer for years. I think 3 or 4 of them broke. This time, I decided to try this one. It is very sturdily made, and I don't think it will ever break. I bought an extra set of brushes to be sure. The thing I like the best is that I don't have to clip each end to the chain. Just push the lever down and it is ready to use.

This was purchased for a bike co-op that, along with many things, has a lot of users come in for generalaintance including chain cleaning. We have a few of the plastic Park Tool chain cleaners (both cm5 and cm5.2) and have found them a little less robust that we would desire.This is a relatively new offering, and after seeing it show up in a few places, I decided we must have one, and I definitely wanted to get to use one myself.The tool, as expected is a very solid metal and I have no doubts the case will last many years. The design is very nice, and this tool does a good job at what it does. Most notably, there is very little solvent that falls out while in use.Now two things I didn't like. First, while the cartridge pad/brush system is very nice, the foam wicking pads still have a tendency to want to fly off.Second, the handle does not firmly attach to the unit. The documentation mentions a cap screw on the handle that pressed against the body, but on the unit received, only a small bolt protruded from the handle on both ends, lacking a head to turn it. I believe this may be an error/defect, and I will probably order another handle directly from Park.

I know it's a lot more than the plastic chain cleaners. But I have broken two plastic ones so if I had bought the aluminium one to begin with I could have saved money. I find them easy to use and they clean the chain really well. I've been using it for quite some time without breaking it and it looks like I'll be using it for many years to come. Cleans a chain in about a minute depending on how often you clean it. I can highly recommend it.

It helps keeping drivtrain clean. Easy to use. Sturbish, solid…costly, but better than other made with plastic
