Arnie, the Doughnut (The Adventures of Arnie the Doughnut, 1)

I have bought this delightful book so many times I've lost count! I originally discovered it when looking for a book for a birthday gift for my nephew way back in the early 2000's. Quirky, colorful, and fun, this became a family classic as all the kids constantly requested Arnie the Doughnut as their favorite "read-to-me, please!" book. My most recent purchase is for my new great-nephew! Both hilarious and heartwarming, Arnie navigates the world of friendship as he tries to recreate himself to be seen as something more than to be simply consumed. When I got the book in, it was as charming for me to re-read now as it was the very first time I read it. If you are looking for a lovable character that stands the test of time look no further than Arnie, the Doughnut!

BEST BOOK EVER!!! Amusing for little ones and hilarious for grown ups!!! Our three year old granddaughter has snuggled up and listened to this book over and over despite its length. We added the plush Arni the Doughnut and we all love him! Heard her the other day say, “Nice to eat you…I mean meet you!!” And she even knew that was humorous ~LOVE THAT!! Every donut shop should sell this:)

Such a cute story! My boys 6 and 9 loved it. It had all of us giggling.

What a fantastic story about learning how to adapt to a new situation. I bought this for my daughter's Storybook Pumpkin assignment and didn't expect to like the book so much! (I was just trying to find an easy design for the pumpkin painting lol) But then I read it to my kids as a bedtime story and we all couldn't stop laughing, my kids were completely absorbed by the story. It's cute, has a wonderfully upbeat pace to it and has a nice lesson buried in it as well. I loved the little details included on every page, with small side stories and background characters. My kids and I have read it several times and I feel like we discover something new going on in the background every time. 10/10 fantastic book and great for ages 5-10

Bought this to read to a first grade class for Read Across America week. They loved it. Of course, I topped it off by bringing donuts v with sprinkles. They were naming the donuts (because of the story)🍩😁

This is one of my now young adult children’s favorite books! It’s humorous, the illustrations are cute, and the story is hilarious! I bought this for my now pregnant oldest daughter who is building her baby’s library. It’s a kid friendly, funny book and I also enjoyed it the many, many times I read it to my four children when they were younger. Get it! You won’t be sorry.

Read this to a 1st grade class as a mystery reader and bought donuts for them, they all seemed to enjoy the book. Arnie is a loveable character, I enjoyed it as well.

Excellent book! My 5 and 6 year olds love it. Storyline is entertaining and keeps them interested. It has great illustrations, however some text illustrations are written really small and hard to read, and are kind of chaotically places throughout the book. If I could change anything about the book it would be that. It came in one day which was great! We originally heard of Arnie because my sons 1st grade teacher read it to the class. The kids loved it, that prompted us to purchase it for the kids.

Esse livro é sensacional! A história já é muito divertida, mas as ilustrações dão um “Q” a mais!!! This book is amazing! The story is very funny, but the illustrations are something else!!!

I first stumbled across the YT version of Chris O’Dowd live reading this book, and was immediately taken by its main character Arnie. My kids love Arnie and if they could they would wnat me to read the storybook every day. I secretly love it too!

This is a very funny book. It is a great read aloud for students. There are also follow up lesson plans available online.
