I don't know why my cats love this simplistic toy so much but they do. I am now on our 12th purchase of this item in two years. And this is only because I have one male cat who makes it his mission to bite through the cord and ruin the fun for everyone else. And when he does succeed, I pull out the rope from it's body and he promptly carries it off in his mouth in complete victory so he can hoard it away from the other cats. He carries them in his mouth everywhere and then brings them to me so he can play fetch. While the mouse is intact on the string, it swings and bounces with such enthusiasm that all of the cats are zoned in for the kill. They will play with this toy for 20 minutes straight. The mouse has a small rattle sound and the fur sticks out just enough to entice them to try and bite it and grab it with their claws. They all love to chew on the mouse when they have it clutched in their claws. It's the perfect size mouse too. My only issue is that the door hanger itself will sometimes lose the rubber covers on the end when they are too aggressive in their attacks (they try to pull it free from the rope) and one of the sides sometimes slips off the doorframe. I usually find the rubber ends and put it back on but most times I can't find it until I vacuum it up and I don't bother putting it back on then. But other than that, it really is a great toy for our little hunters.

I have 2 cats (3 & 4 years old, both very playful) and bought this with the younger in mind. He is very active and can get restless, and loves "fishing pole" type and interactive toys. This was a huge hit with him! (My other cat was also initially very interested, but I think has since been a bit intimidated by the wild ways his brother plays with it.) We've had it for a bit under 3 weeks, and the 3yo cat (pictured) plays with it multiple times a day. Sometimes that's just laying under it and batting at it... all the way up to carrying the mouse in his mouth, up to 15+ feet away, and letting it wildly spring back. Be sure to hang it in a doorway without any especially fragile items nearby, because of that! (Several times I've had to retrieve it after it bounced back so wildly as to get hung up on the door hinges or a nearby object.) I did find the same issue others have noticed-- most doorways are far too wide for the top part to fully grip around, but I hung it somewhat sideways on part of the door frame and it has had no issues staying in place, even with my cat dragging the mouse toy all over our home and then letting it bounce back with force. This will likely become a go-to gift for anyone I know with a playful young cat. ETA: if your cat plays with it as wildly as mine does (carrying it off to let it spring back), you'll find that soon the mouse starts to be "skinned." I saw that was happening and ordered a 2-pack to have on backup. Today (after just under 2 months of use) I saw that the elastic cord had broken, near the mouse, so put up a replacement. I'll likely try to add a few stitches to the new ones to help keep the fabric covering from coming off the rattle-y plastic mouse base form as quickly (as if that part had been intact, I could have just re-tied the elastic cord pieces together). Even if it continues to need regular replacement, though, this remains a 5/5 star cat toy for the price and how much regular play and enrichment he gets out of it!

My cats and I love this! I really appreciate how much it keeps them entertained independently—it is their favorite toy. It's super easy to hang up and doesn't really get in the way of the door if placed to the side. The string did break within a couple of weeks—it's a decent quality but they do play with it a lot. It's not a big deal though and easy to tie other toys to it. I still think it's worth it and will probably buy another one soon!

This is by far, the best cat toy ever! My cat ignores all other toys for this rat. He played with the first one so much, he pulled it off the string. He drags it all over the house and eventually loses it under a piece of furniture. Then he cries for it. We are constantly having to find this rat. It is so beat up, chewed up and mutilated it does look like a dead rat. Now we can't find it, so he was without for almost a month. Just bought my second one and he is in heaven again. I remove the wire and hang it from the ceiling rather than a doorway. When he gets tired of playing with it, he sleeps right beside it, wakes up and starts playing again, He really wants it off the string, and eventually, he will get it off and lose it just like the first one. Then I will have to buy a third one.... I glad they are cheap. I do rotate toys now, so he only gets the rat 2X a week. I call it a rat, because, well, it does look like a baby rat.

The stretchy string is easily tearable, my cat has ripped through it twice, ive put it back through the mouse both times and its already ripped again, ive also added my own string to it to make up for the ripped distance.

TEN STARS! I wish I could catch him playing with this thing. I love that it doesn’t clip over the door, but it has soft tip V connector that just holds onto the opening and it’s strong. It’s not damaging anything and he can pull it. 20 feet, yeah 20 feet! And he plays with it nonstop 24 seven in the middle of the night I have to get up and raise it so I can get some sleep. Get two of them this one and a half-year-old boy. (Orange imagine!) plays with it incessantly and he gets a lot of exercise. Love this love this love this.

4th update 12/10/25: yet another update and a star up from 3 to 4. Bought it again... Seriously, my cat loves it too much to not replace it when the string breaks and it's not easy to restring the mouse. the price it didn't bother me much but they increased it by nearly 50%. I don't love the price increase... *but* it did come with a thicker string this time and they added an adhesive mounting option. I won't use the adhesive cause that stuff damages paint and I don't see it standing up to two 15lb cats.... but I definitely appreciate the thicker string and hope that makes it survive longer. 3rd: Another update: I bought it again cause it was one of my cats birthday and I decided it was cheap enough to get it for him again without being mad if it only lasted six hours again cause they LOVED it for that six hours. And this time it lasted 3 months! It's demise this time wasn't the string breaking either, it was that they managed to just pull it hard enough the string popped out of the hole (it's knotted at the end and pulled through the hole, the knot keeps the string from pulling all the way through. The knot could be bigger and it would have prevented it. Unfortunately I can't seem to restring it through (and I can't find my yarn needle for knitting to help either}, so I'm just buying a 2 pack. The now loose mouse will still be played with and drowned in their water bowl on the regular, so it's not a total loss. Increased my rating to 3 stars cause it just has issues but they love it so freaking much and I love them enough to cope. 2nd: updating review cause it broke in less than 6 hours. the string they use is far too weak to be used with a hanging cat toy. the only reason it keeps 2 stars us cause the mouse that was hanging off it is now my cats favorite toy. anywhere he is, it's very nearby. 1st review: pee before you install it. My cats grabbed it and tried to bring it to my bed twice. and the string is quite long and stretchy so it pulled all the way across my room, despite not being long enough to touch the floor and my room isn't small. Then when they tried to put it down it snapped all the way back and slapped my son in the face twice. The first time he was so surprised he almost fell. And I laughed so hard I almost dribbled. Twice.

I put it up on my door, my cat played with it for an hour none stop and then fell asleep for the night, perfect for how low price it is 🤙

Great, my cat wants to play with this quite often. I just have to monitor her so she does not start chewing on the wire. It does ricochet as she pulls it to nibble on the mouse on the end and when she lets it go it goes flying.
