These antennas seem to hold up well, and work good too...
Review Date/ Revision: 1-29-2017/ A. Excellent CB and 10m antenna... Has wide bandwidth - will cover CB to 10m if tuned (cut*#). Use of a short spring is suggested. Make sure spring used, has the braid inside the spring@, or the SWR will be a problem (as you drive down the road - Parked it might be OK)... It probably could be used without spring, if what ever it contacts is in the upper 2/3 - 3/4 of the antenna... ------------------------------------------------------- Notes: * The antenna is likely to cover 26.8-28.3 MHz as is... @ Its become common for companies to leave out the required braid inside the spring. This causes the SWR to vary extremely, as the spring bends. # Cutting and tuning: CB, no spring... -- Use a hack saw. DO NOT use wire cutters on the outside. Cut around the circumference of the tip of the antenna. -- Dont cut more that 1/4 inch, at a time. -- Replace red cap during EACH SWR testing. With a short spring, expect to cut 1/2 inch off. Once you done, Use RTV silicone to glue the cap on permanently. HAM, no spring... -- Use a hack saw. DO NOT use wire cutters on the outside. Cut around the circumference of the antenna. -- Cut 1 inch off (about 1in per MHz) to get to 28.5 MHz, -- Dont cut more that 1/4 inch, at a time, after you get to 28.0 MHz. -- Replace red cap during EACH SWR testing. With a short spring, expect to cut 2 inch off. Once you done, Use RTV silicone to glue the cap on permanently. In my application, I used a Hustler ball mount and spring. This adds to the antennas length. I found it resonated around 26.0 MHz. I cut 2.5in off to get to 28.5 MHz. The bad news is the resonated SWR was around 1.6 SWR, as in it was not a flat 1.1 SWR.

Pre Tuned.........For REAL !!!!
Been using Francis for 36yrs. A slip seat Trucker, in and out of many trucks.. if you can"t get a good SWR Do not think its the antenna ! look eleswhere....Mount...Co-ax...ect.. these are awesome, well tuned from the factory..Many drivers have been using these.. for many years..I run a STRYKER CB..penty of power with No problem...

works great
I did not use it as intended....I used it as a flag holder on an atv and it worked great for that also.

False description disabled antenna.
This Antenna has been cut at the tip. The antenna is not adjustable now. When you tune a antenna there is an adjustment for the SWR "Standing Wave Ratio". I get almost 3.0. I should be able to adjust down to 1.0 or 1.5.
