Does this sofa armrest tray hold onto the couch arm securely?

Yes, I think it’s great! Can go on any width (up to a point). Can take on and off, move to different spots! Love it

Has anyone found a good thing to store the tray when not using it? Also, I love it. I just don't want it on my chair all the time.

It is flat when not in use. You can put it in your closet. I have mine on the arm of my sofa all the time. If I have to take it off the arm of the sofa, I can just put it on the side.

Will it fit snug on a 5.5" arm?

Dear customer, this sofa arm clip table can of course clamp 5.5 inches of armrest, if the wide armrest will be more stable.
