good job, I’ve found them hard to grow and harder to pick here, too small for one thing. But these taste the way they are, very good.

Gooseberries are a bit of an acquired taste I think, due to the rather sour taste, and as I don't often find them for sale fresh it seemed a good idea to checkout these freeze dried ones. They came in a very well presented recyclable pouch, with plenty in. There was a typo misprint in the Nutrient Information listing, with Copper listed as 'Cooper'. The Company might want to have a word with with their pouch printers, as that isn't a good look and ruins the professional presentation. A few crushed ones, but that is not really an issue as can sprinkle the flakes in porridge or a smoothie so they don't go to waste. The whole ones I'll either have a handful to munch on, or add to yogurt or ice cream. As my blender is on the blink at the moment I just put a few in a coffee grinder to get them down fine enough so can add into shaker to add a bit of extra vits into my protein shake. Unlike normal dried fruits, freeze dried have a different consistency. They aren't as hard and chewy, more crisp and powder when crunched. They often don't taste very flavourful at first until the moisture in your mouth brings out the flavour. I prefer the texture of freeze dried as my teeth often aren't up to the job of chewing normal dried fruit slices especially if they have a glaze on. These are about as natural as you can get with all the moisture removed from them while preserving all the vitamins and minerals. Pleased with these, and they are a good buy and not only for vegans. Anyone who wants to get more fruits into their diet without actually eating more fruit, should think about adding dried fruits in some form. Freeze drying is the best way to preserve all the nutrients and taste. Pleased to have found this company and will be looking to purchase more of their products in the future. They have a good expiry date, so excellent to keep a few bags in stock for future use.

I really like dried fruit so I was interested in trying them, as I have never had freeze dried before. My first impression was unfortunately, not positive due to a major gripe I have with the packaging. The fruit itself is inside a nice paper resealable pouch, more than enough to keep the dried fruit in good condition. Yet the paper pouches were individually wrapped in plastic ziplock bags. I don't know if the seller or Amazon packaged it this way, but putting a sustainable paper pouch inside a plastic wrap seems counterintuitive! Onto the fruit itself, these gooseberries are very very good. The taste is genuinely fantastic, incredibly sweet and juicy, a real zingy flavour which is giving me a real buzz eating them! The quality here is excellent and the freeze dry maintains both the original moisture of the fresh fruit but with the crunchiness of baked fruits. For this, this is a fantastic combination and I absolutely love both the taste and the texture. This range of freeze dried fruits is very expensive for how much you get. I expect this is because the freeze dried variety is more expensive to produce and more niche in the market. I don't feel this is a price that makes this something to buy regularly, however I do think these would be a really great gift for someone with a sweet tooth as these have genuinely first rate taste. I would definitely recommend giving this range of fruits a go as a special gift to someone (or to yourself) but hopefully they won't package them with so much plastic in future.

My experience with the blackcurrants in this range was that the flavour was brought out by soaking. But I tried these first with custard in the evening and really only on prolonged chewing did we get any sensation of gooseberry. Then I tried soaking overnight. A slightly stronger flavour but I would not be able to identify these as gooseberry in a blind test. Disappointed. I think one of the problems here is that they have harvested the fruit very underripe to reduce the bacterial content for freeze drying.

I have a mild obsession with pineapple, but fresh can be hit and miss (its that super juicy, super sweet, super soft pineapple I love - where its deeply disappointing when you get one thats rock hard and never ripens, and is either sour or just bland... top-tip, if you get one like that, slice it finely and grill it - massively improves the situation). Crystallised is just sugar so doesnt really give me the pineapple satisfaction, and dried can often be too dry and hard, chewy or flavourless. So I was quite excited to try freeze dried - and for me its a game changer! You get the proper "fresh" sweet pineapple flavour, without tearing your gums to shreds as can happen with some dried ones, or the flavour being masked by sugar as with crystallised. It can also be re-hydrated if you prefer, but the crunchy texture is amazing. It sort of melts in the mouth a bit, but has a really good bite-texture first. Great for a healthy nibble instead of crisps or sweets! Portion control might be an issue as its incredibly moreish, but the fact its freeze dried does mean it will keep... if you can keep your fingers out of the bag! This dried fruit is super soft and delicious, It was important it was organic and this product didn’t disappoint. This is an ideal snack for anyone and I put some into plastic tubs to snack on to keep the bag intact - would highly recommend this brand it’s the only one I’ll buy from now on
