Hegel's Encyclopaedia Logic constitutes the foundation of the system of philosophy presented in his Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences. Together with his Science of Logic, it contains the most explicit formulation of his enduringly influential dialectical method and of the categorical system underlying his thought. It offers a more compact presentation of his dialectical method than is found elsewhere, and also incorporates changes that he would have made to the second edition of the Science of Logic if he had lived to do so. This volume presents it in a new translation with a helpful introduction and notes. It will be a valuable reference work for scholars and students of Hegel and German idealism, as well as for those who are interested in the post-Hegelian character of contemporary philosophy. A turning point in Anglophone Hegel scholarship
The introductory essay by Brinkmann and Dahlstrom may be alone worth the price of this volume. Their introduction gives a superbly clear and reasonable overview of Hegel's entire philosophical project. This new Cambridge translation along with the new translation of the larger Logic by Di Giovanni mark a turning point in Anglophone Hegel scholarship. Good riddence to the mid-20th-century biases, fears, and confusions wrought by Karl Popper and Bertrand Russell upon the (mis)understanding of Hegel in the English-speaking world. This book reflects a more enlightened and sober assessment of Hegel's work that has been emerging in the recent Anglophone Hegel renaissance, for which other contemporary Hegel scholars like Houlgate, Pippin, Pinkard, and Brandom also deserve credit.

Good translation of a great text trapped in a horrible cover.
I'm an expert in neither Hegel's thought nor the German language, but this edition is certainly easy to read compared to other Hegel translations I've encountered. Only problem is the cover. I HATE philosophy book covers that are just pictures of the philosopher's ugly mug, and the image here is probably the very ugliest surviving picture of the ugliest philosopher since Socrates. At least it's a direct depiction of him and not a kitschy idealized portrait by someone who lived centuries after his work. This is a trifling complaint, as thankfully no-one uses Hegel as a reference for cosmetology or graphic design. It's unfortunate, though, that this seemingly-good translation can't be bound in the elegantly simple covers of, for example, the Hackett series or the Miller translation of the Phenomenology.

Poor quality hardback production
With hardly any use the spine has cracked. For a hardback book that cost £61.65 this is unacceptable. UPDATE: Superb customer service from Amazon who sent a replacement within 2 days of my complaint. Hence 5* rather than the initial 1*. Also, the book itself is superb.

Low quality l
The book itself is fine in terms of content, but it's another one of those "printed by Amazon" editions and the pages have the same blue tint that is terribly annoying. What kind of paper is this? Why isn't it white?

terrible print quality
Printed by Amazon Fulfillment - need I say more? But seriously, shame on Cambridge for this money-grab. This book has a lot of additional subtext in a smaller font which is not printed at a quality level that would lend itself to actually being read.
