The packaging does not specify yes or no. It merely says for use orally, rectally, or under the arm. It also says that it's fast 10 second temperature reading.

What does Lo mean when it appears on a green screen above the F for temp mode?

Once activated, it displays the previous temp. Then shows LO above the F Mark. Assuming that the previous temp is below 98! That means it is ready to take a new temp. It is just a starting point! I assume if your temp was higher it might display something different. Never had that happen to me!
