I wasn't sure if I should get this or the bed of nails mat. I chose this because I thought I'd use it more - it's more convenient to use while sitting at your desk or even on the sofa. Plus you can target areas easily without worrying about the 'nail' pain where you don't want it. Also, with 2 dogs, laying on the floor on a bed of nails with them jumping on me wasn't enticing... It is really strange, but it does seem to release muscle tension. I used it first on my neck (I have chronic neck/shoulder/back issues), and it hurt a little at first, but didn't last long and I found myself pushing into it after the first 5 minutes to get it to go deeper. When I was done, my neck felt like all the pressure was released. Then I moved on to my back, shoulders etc - same experience. The only time it really hurt was when I put it directly across my shoulder blades - all the other times it wasn't so bad. All in all I'd say it was worth it and I do plan to keep using it. I don't know if I'll ever get the mat - but for whatever reason, this does seem to work as claimed!

So I was looking for weird stuff that I would never normally by but i was in a particularly frisky that evening. Upon seeing the amount of positive reviews i decided to give it a try. The first time is the roughest, really i was really uncomfortable the first time and not knowing what to expect. I listened to some of the other buyers said and glad i did, at about 15 minutes I could feel my neck starting to heat up and overwhelming sense of calm come over me. Since then i have used it occasionally but not as often as I like. I also find the pillow helps to relive headaches yet another plus. My only word of advice, bear with it and stay still, `

Originally, I found out about Bed of Nails from an episode of Dr. Oz and he explained the accupressure design behind it and how it helps you feel good in many different ways; but especially for headaches. So I thought I would check it out. I am so happy that I decided to purchase this Bed of Nails pillow. I get very bad tension headaches multiple days a week and so I needed a form of home-therapy that actually helped, and this is that therapy! When you lay down on the pillow, the small accupressure points truly help to release and dissolve the tension in my head, neck, shoulders, and back! Plus this pillow just helps you to relax and feel good. Not only is this pillow good for headaches, but it is also very beneficial for migraines, muscle pain, sleeplessness, and many other physical & mental benefits! I recommend this product to anyone and everyone! Thank you very much :)

I loved this pillow so much I fell asleep on it. yeah, I know you are not supposed to. Me falling asleep is a big deal since I hardly get much sleep. I try to lay on it for 15 minutes but extend it more because it really does feel good. It continues to feel good after too. Gets the blood flowing or something. I purchased one for my best friend and she has already called me three times to thank me and tell me that she loves it. Have and would recommend to more and more friends. It's very relaxing to lay your head on. I suffer from lower back pain and it takes my mind off of it. It would probably be awesome for headaches (which luckily I don't have) but I do sometimes have a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders. This definitely helps with that.

I'm not too sure about this pillow. It hurts to use it under my neck without covering the pillow with a towel or pillowcase. I'm not sure how the spikes can be aligned exactly to where pressure points are. Also, the primary problem is that the instructions that came with it are for the bed of nails, with no instructions at all for the bed of nails PILLOW!

This product has been nothing short of amazing. I have had chronic back pain and chronic anxiety for as long as I can remember. Having a debilitating illness made simply existing very hard, however, 18 months out from a transplant surgery at 23 and I am finding myself to be seeking new ways to be kind to my body and treat some of my concerns in more natural ways. Some years ago, my doctors and I discussed the option of accupuncture. We ultimately decided against that for some health reasons, and this accupressure mat was the next thing brought to my attention. After reading some reviews, I decided to order and try it out. Like I said, nothing short of amazing. This has helped improve some of my chronic pain, particularly in my back. My sleep has sleep improved. The added benefit of lowering my anxiety has been remarkable. I would recommend this to friends and family and anyone.

I've used the bed of nails pillow in conjunction with a bed of nails mat on and off for a year and a half. I find it to be quite relaxing. It's hard to speak to whether or not it is therapeutic per se since it's difficult to know what degree of aches and pains I would otherwise be experiencing without it. In any event, I wanted to take a minute to write a review of this product as I am currently replacing my pillow. With regular use, the foam does eventually break down -- or perhaps more accurately, break in. It defeats the purpose of the pillow to have it conforming to my head, I think. It's not a deal killer, but know that, if you use it regularly, you will eventually want to replace it. As a side note: I put my bed of nails to best use in conjunction with prism glasses like Prism Glasses, Prism Eye Glasses or Bed Prism Spectacles . I lie on the bed of nails with my prism glasses on to play Jeopardy! against my wife. It would otherwise be hard to regularly find the extra 30 minutes of spare time to lie on a mat & do nothing.

I purchased this on a lightening deal based on the reviews. I had not looked closely enough at the product and thought it was a bit different than it is. I have chronic pain from arthritis and inflammation, and in addition broke my ankle some weeks ago and now have sore muscles from the use of crutches etc... and I thought this might help. It is, however, a good deal different from what I thought I was buying. The pillow I received has things which look like large sequins with small sharp plastic spikes. I had anticipated something which applied pressure but did not prick the skin. I went to see if it can be returned and it is listed as a health and personal care item, and not eligible for return. Amazon customer service is exquisite and I have no complaints regards how this was handled, but recommend that if you are considering this that you use the zoom to look closely at what you will be getting. I am hoping that the product description was copied from the manufacturer, as personally I can not imagine Amazon writing copy like that or representing that any "alternative medicine" product (for lack of a better descriptor) can, or ought to, be represented as treating all those conditions. As a scientist and clinician I find it somewhat offensive (and should have looked more closely before I clicked.... indeed good advice for any of us). I will certainly not quarrel with others' experience, but have to say.... well this is a very unusual item. I have learned my lesson and will read and review thoroughly before clicking ;) and recommend that others do the same. Edited 1/1/12 to remove most of the descriptive text, as I have found that if someone's opinion disagrees with your then your commentary is "not helpful" I am simply trying to help others avoid the mistake that I made and point out, as it is not in the listing, that as this is considered a personal care item, It is not returnable. I never buy things with the thought of sending them back. However if/ when you receive something which is not what you thought it would be and which you have no use for, it is nice to have that option. So disregard everything else if you care to, but note that this is not returnable and consider your choice with that in mind.
