AcmeThunderer Plastic Whistle (2-Pack)

I ref rugby and this whistle is fantastic. I've used other cheap, metal whistles and it is night and day. The old cheap whistle is not very loud and has a different pitch pattern. The "Thunderer" is so much louder and the pitch pattern is distinct. Some of the new refs use the old whistles and don't blast it very well to make calls. I tell the new refs to pick up a Thunderer. It will help immensely.

Sturdy plastic whistles work like they are supposed to work. I'm using them for dog training and they have good tone and enough distance to work well for that job.

I have found no substitute for the Acme Thunderer and have had several over the years. I now purchase the plastic version as I live in an area which becomes quite cold from time to time. Metal on the lios outdoors in subfreezing is not always a good idea.The only reason I did not give this whistle a 5.0 is because some of the whistles have a higher tone than others, although I have purchased the two pack every time and see no mention of different tones.In my situation, two (the half dozen I have hanging at various locations) are deeper and pull my dog in every time. Others, not so much.

I’ve used these acme thunderer whistles for years to signal bird dogs while working/training them in the field. Very loud and very durable. They never break. Only reason I’ve ever had to replace one is because I occasionally lose one. I’ve tried other whistles in a pinch but none have a tone as commanding & audible as these. As a trainer, I find the acme thunderer whistle to be the absolute best product for my use.

Doesn’t freeze upOn us in cold weather. Good product.

Gets my dogs attention.

Since I was a kid, this product has been around. Now 68 years old. The whistle is load, and of exceptional quality.
